A pleasant little diversion, there a small collection of butterflies and they were fun to watch. Allow 30-45 minutes. The location is a little hard to walk to from downtown.

Really lovely place to visit and see the different butterflies of Costa Rica. If you were to try and see these in the wild, it would take forever. Small place and a quick stop but really worth it to see the butterflies and even some poison frogs. I took lots of pictures, some of them unforgettable. Highly recommend this.

Huge blue morpho butterflies, owls and an array of colourful fluttering butterflies and moths make this a lovely oasis in an otherwise busy city centre! Lovely waterfall and the surrounds are great for peace and tranquility as there aren't huge crowds here, just great great insects to admire and watch, some will land on you they don't seem that shy!!

We spent the afternoon at the butterfly exhibit. Very beautiful place. Great way to spend a couple hours for little cost. Awesome location in the middle of San José but with a jungle type experience.

Love this attraction! It is low key but has gorgeous butterflies and knowledgeable staff. Morphos and Owl flit and flutter around you and sometimes land on you to take a break. It is truly your best chance to see these jewels up close before or after your treks through the rainforest!

Walking past, I thought I'd check out this place. US$7 later, I'm handed some laminated documents, one with a chart of butterflies, and the other with some facts on butterflies. This was quite informative actually! The garden was nice, but pretty small. I'm not sure if it's seasonal, but there weren't too many butterflies around at the time. There were... More

A lovely, peaceful garden with lots of many different types of colorful butterflies. It's a wonderful escape from the hustle of San Jose and surprisingly it's only a few minutes walk from the center of the city! There's a waterfall, lots of interesting plants, and benches here and there to sit and appreciate the charm of it all.

If you like insects, specifically butterflies, than you may enjoy this garden. There were dozens of blue morpho butterflies and at least 5 other species visible while I was there. There are very steep paths down to the river and more butterflies (wild) were in that area. The garden is a short walk from downtown and is a nice oasis... More

My wife and I walked from our Hotel Presidente to this butterfly garden in around 15 minutes. When we arrived, we were the only people there. We slowly made our way on the path that takes you in a loop from front to back. There are numerous different types of butterflies and I thoroughly enjoyed trying to photograph all the... More
