What fun to glide through a true jungle river and see birds, cayman, monkeys and more with naturalist guides. Excellent adventure!

I had the chance to go with a few friends. On my way to Tortuguero, I met Víctor Barrantes which is a Tour Operator. He is the nicest guy ever and took us to the Turtle places at the right price.

The trip is relatively long and for the last hour the road consists of pot holes, so going there 1 day up and down means travelling by bus or car and boat for a significant portion of that day. Don't do that. Fot staying two nights there's really not enough to see, but 1x overnight is just right for walking... More

We booked through Costa Rica Expeditions and we felt that our stay at Tortuga Lodge was the best part of the trip. It was wonderfully isolated. You fly in or take a boat in. It was beautiful, peaceful and the food was fantastic.

Went on a full day trip which included pick up at my hotel, breakfast (which was vegetarian friendly), a boat ride, lunch, and tour of Tortuguero. It was awesome and cheap! A busload of professors went from San Jose, Costa Rica to Tortuguero National Park with Jungle Tom Safaris, and we had a grand time! Tomas was our friendly and charming guide. He shared hundreds of fascinating things about the remarkable animals and plants of Costa Rica, and the history of the geology of this beautiful volcanic region. We saw wonderful... More

Being there to see and hear these exotic animals is quite the experience. The boatride through the swamp and down the river was amazing. I think the only thing I disliked were the roads to thes place are treacherous.

A very different kind of experience from your other types of tours. The island is very down to earth and you really get to see what the natives live like and there is no fluff or luxury lodging. The island is amazing and you get to experince nature at a 100%. The night turtle tour is spectacular, the ride alone... More

Instead of choosing a tour from the cruise ship we opted to rent a cab and see the tour ourselves. We were greeted with a sign from Tortuguero. Our cab driver, Manuel, was excellent showing the country side, information on birds, trees and anything else along the way. We stopped at a native stop and tried the fresh fruits produced... More
