Carla provided enough information about San José and tico history without overloading too many details. The mixed city walk and art walk wandered through lush, well kept urban parks, along streets filled with street art, through the museum district and genteel neighbourhood of Amon to finish in the hectic, colourful Central Market. You hear a lot of negative comments about... More

The young lady that showed us downtown San Jose was extremely knowledgeable about both the buildings and history. She was also able to answer any question we asked about Tico culture and ways of doing things. She bought us some unique local fruit and helped us find a store for an umbrella (rainy season and something we forgot). I'd highly... More

Stacey was not only accessible in advance of our tour to ensure we had the best fit for our availability and the weather, our guide Carla was extremely well informed on both the architecture, current and past politics and additional cultural issues. It was less of a tour and more of a casual conversation around town with a friend. We... More

Really great tour packed with loads of information about Costa Fica and San Jose. The trip around San Jose market to sample some of the local food was excellent

What a wonderful way to discover San José! Before I arrived there lots of people said, that San José isn't worth to do a city tour and it isn't very nice to see. But they all are wrong, Stacey showed me better! She told us so much about the city and about nice little places where you could go, as... More

We were in San Jose for one day on April 26th and wanted to explore the city as much as possible! Thankfully we heard about Barrio Bird Walking tours! My wife and I had the pleasure of walking around the city with two locals from San Jose, who were extremely knowledgeable about the history of the city and Costa Rica... More

We booked the tour 2 days before, had a confirmation, drove 45 minutes to go to the meeting point, waited 30 minutes... The guide never showed up... We tried to reach Stacey twice : once on time, saying we were at the meeting point, the second time 25 minutes later to ask her what was going on. She only answered... More

Thank you for the review. I'm very sorry that I made such a grave error, and it's our loss as we missed a chance to show you the best of San Jose and enjoy your company along the way. You are right, offering complimentary tours is a limited apology given the nature of the business. I'll try to think of... More

I congratulated myself over and over for having booked this tour. I usually like to discover places by myself, but due to limited time in San Jose (before heading to Arenal) and due to some quite mixed reviews that I had previously red about the city, I decided to "play safe" and go on this tour, especially that I had... Not the most interesting, cleanest or safest city in the world but we still had a good time. Our tour guide was Stacey (she is the one who started the Barrio Bird Tours) and she was fabulous. Very knowledgeable about the city and hit all the hot spots. We did the tour that combined the city and the market (so... More

Thanks for this nice review. I love to really help visitors get a good understanding of Costa Rica by not limiting the focus to site seeing, but also sharing information about culture, society, economics, precolumbian history, natural disasters and more. This helps explain why San Jose is as interesting, safe and clean as it is. I'm glad you enjoyed your... More
