If you come to San Jose make certain you book a walking tour with Barrio Bird. We had a superb 4 hour tour on our first day and learned so much about San Jose. Carla -our guide-was a fountain of knowledge-and so enthusiasic about her City. We went to loads of sights, including an excellent coffee house in a garage,... More

Even though it was late notice and a Sunday we managed to get thgis organised. What could have been a wasted day turned into an informative and pleasant stroll around a facinating city. An oportunity to ask someone who has made the city their home by choice, questions it might not have been polite to ask a 'real' local.

We did a great walking tour that was lead by Carla. A small group of four we walked areas that we likely would not have found ourselves and enjoyed great coffee at Cafe Miele. We had lunch at the market and ate local vegetarian options too! It was a super way to see some of downtown and to get local... More

Our guide Carla was excellent. We did the combo walking and food tour. We saw areas that we would not have found on our own plus we had great coffee, a typical local lunch at the market and ice cream. Whenever we visit a new city our first priority is a walking tour and this one certainly did not disappoint.

We hadn't initially planned to visit San Jose during our trip to Costa Rica (thinking we'd avoid the big city), but we were intrigued by tour description so signed up. And we were glad we did. Guide Carla really added to our understanding of the city and the country and its culture. We saw San Jose in a way that... More

We had a great time with our bilingual guide, Carla. Volcano Turriabla was erupting & she kept the fun informative tour going as we got to meet this exciting city on foot.

This is a walking tour of central San Jose, Costa Rica. Our guide was Carla who was young but knowledgeable. We had a great time and learned a lot about this city. We took in several cathedrals on the way. The whole thing lasts for approx. two hours.

Stacey, a founder of this company, was our tour guide-- and wonderful at that!! We came to San Jose only to fly out of Costa Rica from, Tamarindo, a small surfer village. Wow-- we enjoyed learning so much history about this small country! She had SO much knowledge about San Jose, the architecture, culture, population, religion and politics-- and the... More

This would be a great way to begin a visit to San Jose. WE had already been around town but Carla showed us several interesting sites we had not seen and answered many questions about Costa Rican life, history and politics. She is very knowledgeable

The city of San Jose should the first stop on your trip to Costa Rica. The guide books say to skip the city. I don't agree. We did the Culinary tour with Carla. It was a perfect morning. We learned so much about the city and it's architecture. The highlight was visiting a coffee shop and central market to discover... More
