My guests come to Costa Rica to be with nature. They seldom want to visit San Jose fearing the crowds and the traffic and the rumors of thefts. I try to bring as many folks on the Barrio Bird walking tour as it truly is an eye opener to the country's rich history. The old buildings are beautiful, the local... More

Had a fine, enjoyable and informative 2 hour walk with Clara as our guide. Went on the Art tour that took in a lot of the nice Buildings and statues - but also graffiti and murals on the way. The tour was 2 hour, in relaxing pace and relaxing athmosphere - highly recommended.

We took a walking tour with Carla from Barrio Birds today. We have visited Costa Rica many times but never spent any time in San Jose. This tour was a wonderful introduction to the sites, history, the lore and the people of San Jose.

I really enjoyed my tour with Barrio Bird. We walked all over the city and got a good understanding of the culture and history of downtown San Jose. Our tour guide Carla was fantastic. She took us to all the cool spots and we even sat down for a quick bite at a local soda to get the authentic Costa... More

We began our trip to Costa Rica with this wonderful walking tour, identifying all the highlights of San Jose. Our friendly and informative tour guide, Stacey, showed us all of the local architectural highlights including the National Theater, National Museum, Post Office, Metropolitan Cathedral, and sculptures by artist Jorge Jiménez Deredia. We learned a great deal about the city of... More

We took the combo Bird's nest/Hungry bird tour with our family and although it was complicated by the annual horse parade in San Jose we had a great time. Our guide was very low key, knowledgeable and very well informed also about Costa Rica and its customs in general. If you want to get a good idea about the capital... More

I moved to santa anarecently--just outside of san jose, and had been in to san jose only a handful of times before i found the barrio Bird tours. I was kind of at a loss of where exactly to go other than just randomly exploring. I signed up with a like-minded co-worker and met the group in a central park.... More

We did a combo tour; the Bird's Nest and the Hungry Bird, and it was a fabulous tour. Our guide, Carla, was the perfect host to show us San Jose; she was intelligent, informed, helpful, and fun! We visited neighborhoods and parks and learned so much about the city, the people, and the culture. She took us to the Mercado... More

I actually live in Santa Ana and rarely get to San Jose; however, one weekend I decided it was high time I go to do some museum hopping. I came upon Barrio Bird Tours in the Moon Guide and decided that sounded like a wonderful way to get acquainted with the city. Our guide, Karla, was fabulous. She used just... More

We enjoyed an visual feast in San Jose. The galleries and hide-away art haunts we visited with Bario Bird were fun, well appointed and interesting. Our tour guide Stacey was knowledgable, energetic and so so friendly! We learned a ton about the history of the city and were amazed at how easy it was to absorb the beauty and fun/funky... More
