Barrio Bird offers visitors (and residents alike) an unparalleled opportunity to discover San Jose through the lenses of art, architecture, history, food and popular culture. My tour guide was highly knowledgable, passionate about her city, and able to accommodate the varied interests of our group on the fly. Their ability to interpret San Jose allowed me to understand and appreciate... More

We spent three hours on a walking tour with Stacey. She was knowledgeable about the city and showed us around to places we would have never found or ventured to on our own. It was an informative tour and a great way to see the city. Walking tours are nice because you can stop and ask questions and you don't... More

We were fortunate to be on a private tour with Stacy, an expat from Indiana, who knew the city, it's history, and shared some wonderful insights into the city, it's architecture, food, and people. We were staying in Escazu, so Stacy arranged for a taxi to pick us up and drive us to meet her in a centrally located park.... More

We had a great three hour walk with Stacey on our first afternoon in Costa Rica. We originally had not planned to stay in San Jose, but couldn't book into our chosen hotel in Fortuna so decided to break the trip and we are very glad we did because it meant we got a chance to do this tour. Stacey... More

Our tour turned out to be a private one since it was just me and my partner. Our guide was Mariel--a delightful young student who was very knowledgable. We spent about 3 hours learning all about the culture and food of Costa Rica and I am so glad we did. The tour included several tastings and we had lunch in... More

Mariel was an excellent guide on my tour of San Jose. She was very knowledgable, prompt, interesting and most pleasant. I combined the walking tour with the eating tour and thoroughly enjoyed my time and learned lots about the city. It was terrific!

We booked a combination architecture and art tour which took about 3 hours. Our guide was Mariel and she was excellent. The walk included many areas of the central city and included a view of the parks, historic buildings, museums, and art in San Jose. We learned about the history, current political situation, and the life of the people. Mariel... More

We started our visit to SJ with a talking tour of the city. If you like to get in the middle of things and see things you might miss from a car take the 3hrs to walk the city with Stacy. $38/person

Was able to book the tour online the night before. I took a Caravan tour of Costa Rica. It was ok but they only drove thru San Jose. I leaned so much from this tour.

Thank you so much for the review, it's nice to hear that walking is a better strategy than driving through the city! More

At the last minute my husband found this company doing a google search. He was connected to Stacey and they connected like they were old friends. We had a 3 hour tour with Mariel and it was wonderful. We learned more in the 3 hours than we did with others guides over the two weeks we were there.
