What a terrific way to discover some of San Jose's wonders! We took a combined "Bird's Nest" (downtown overview) and "Hungry Bird" (restaurant) tour. Our guide, Carla, was extremely knowledgeable, personable, funny, and just simply fun to spend time with. We visited or walked past examples of Art Nouveau architecture, marvelous older buildings, parks, murals, statues, and other sights, as... More

Thank you for the great review! Carla is a wonderful, new addition to our staff and very passionate about san jose! It's great to hear that the intimacy of our group size is giving clients that personalized experience. Cheers! Stacey More

This was a fun walking tour. We decided on a urban and art walking tour before arriving. Feel this was probably one of the best ways to spend the morning learning about San Jose and the locals. Got to see a lot of architecture and artwork (graffiti style) during the tour. The tour guide was fun and wasn't pushy at... More

Great little walking tour, Carla was enthusiastic and knew a lot about her city. A lot of insight into its beginnings and dynamics in the present day. She also took me to the market which I´m not sure I would have gone to on my own, was a lovely experience with fresh ceviche. She even had an umbrella for me... More

I actually thought San José was just a dirty culture-less city until I took this tour. Stacey was very knowledgable about the city's history and hidden sweet spots and she opened my eyes to some really cool things.

I had been living in San José for a year before I took the Barrio Birds walking tour and I learned a ton of info that I would have never gotten anywhere else. Mariel, my guide, managed to glean interesting facts from even the most mundane sites in San José. For a tourist with a few days or even hours... More

We just returned from 9 days in San Jose, and Stacey Auch arranged the entire trip for us. Based on the outstanding reviews I saw on Trip Advisor, I asked her if she could recommend a travel adventure for us. She put together a tour that included City Tours of San Jose, which she personally conducted, a trip to the... More

This is a nice tour to provide insight into the history of San Jose and Costa Rica at large, with visits to the site like the National Theater, Avenida Central, Correos (post office building) and a number of unmarked historical residences that self-guided tourists would not be able to identify. The tour guide was Mariel very good. I had visited... More

Regarding some concerns you addressed; we can stop at anytime on our tours for restroom and snack breaks, if we don't ask just let us know! We keep group sizes to about 8 for... More

Barrio Bird offers visitors (and residents alike) an unparalleled opportunity to discover San Jose through the lenses of art, architecture, history, food and popular culture. My tour guide was highly knowledgable, passionate about her city, and able to accommodate the varied interests of our group on the fly. Their ability to interpret San Jose allowed me to understand and appreciate... More

We spent three hours on a walking tour with Stacey. She was knowledgeable about the city and showed us around to places we would have never found or ventured to on our own. It was an informative tour and a great way to see the city. Walking tours are nice because you can stop and ask questions and you don't... More

We were fortunate to be on a private tour with Stacy, an expat from Indiana, who knew the city, it's history, and shared some wonderful insights into the city, it's architecture, food, and people. We were staying in Escazu, so Stacy arranged for a taxi to pick us up and drive us to meet her in a centrally located park.... More
