Rios Tropicales is an eco-adventure company that operates throughout Costa Rica. We offer adventure activities that take advantage of Costa Rica’s unique variety of environments: whitewater rafting, multisport activities that feature kayaking, canoeing, hiking, and cycling, family adventures, cultural encounters, nature and wildlife tours, and “volun-tourism”. Our mission, to share the rivers, natural resources and culture of Costa Rica while sharing conservation values, has not changed since we began in 1985. Rios Tropicales was established by native Central Americans, El Salvadorian Rafael Gallo and Costa Rican Fernando Esquivel, whose deep connection with the region and culture are apparent in every aspect of the company.

We had 1-day rafting at Rio Pacuare. It was perfectly organized. Meeting point was in Siquirres, we had our own car so we came by ourselves, but Rios Tropicales can pick you up from several towns in Costa Rica. Before rafting we had breakfast, then we were taken by bus to the river. During a bus ride, a guide told... More

Great one day trip! Early pick-up, nice drive to Siquirres, tasty Tico breakfast & lunch, and great whitewater rafting on the Pacuare river! Our guide Ricardo was awesome. Spent over 3 hours on the river. Absolutely gorgeous! I highly recommend this trip.

We booked an overnight stay online and were very pleased with the experience. They picked us up from a hotel in San Jose, they were rite on time. We then drove to have a great meal at the off site location. Then headed out to the rainforest and started a great day of rafting. After that we went to their... More

I've never been white water rafting before but I can tell you this company will make it hard for me to find as good an experience elsewhere! Our guide Vernie was so fun and knew the river so well. To make it more fun he had us hop out of the boat maybe 4-5 times to drift down the river... More

The white water rafting trip to the lodge exceeded all of my expectations. To get to the lodge your guides takes you through a brief set of instructions including how to put on your equipment, what his directions mean, and how to act as or save an ejected passenger. This trip involves a series of level 1, 2 and 3... More

The guides made this an awesome trip - they took care of EVERYTHING! The lodge was clean/relaxing atmosphere nestled in the rainforest. They did everything for us. They prepared and served all our meals! The rafting was awesome. It was so beautiful rafting through the rainforest that I would forget to paddle as I starred up at the forest above... More

Rafting the Pacuare is simply a great time! We had an excellent guide, Ricardo, who made sure to get our raft up under the waterfalls, and let us "surf" a couple of rapids. The water was crystal clear and a great temperature. There were many opportunities to get out and swim, or float in between rapids. We were even able... More

To start off, my boyfriend & I have gone white water rafting before but I will have to say that this experience exceeds it by far. They first start off the day by picking you up at your hotel promptly at 6AM so no need to make travel arrangements. They then drive you to their headquarters and serve you traditional... More

To start, I want to clarify that I am both an experienced Level 3-4-5 white water rafter and a Latin America/South America/third world traveler and resident, so I come to this review with neither lack, to be unfairly comparing this company and experience by Stateside or European measures. That said, the GOOD: the river and the forest it is in... More

This was my first time white water rafting. I was with 4 other people, 3 who had been before. We were driven from where we are staying 2 hours away to the rafting compound. Then we took a bus up into the mountains to raft down the river. Our guides name was Rey. He was very informative not just about... More
