Owner description: Rios Tropicales is an eco-adventure company that operates throughout Costa Rica. We offer adventure activities that take advantage of Costa Rica’s unique variety of environments: whitewater rafting, multisport activities that feature kayaking, canoeing, hiking, and cycling, family adventures, cultural encounters, nature and wildlife tours, and “volun-tourism”. Our mission, to share the rivers, natural resources and culture of Costa Rica while sharing conservation values, has not changed since we began in 1985. Rios Tropicales was established by native Central Americans, El Salvadorian Rafael Gallo and Costa Rican Fernando Esquivel, whose deep connection with the region and culture are apparent in every aspect of the company.

We were picked up at 06:00 in the morning by a big coach with several people. I was a bit surprised because I had no idea what we were supposed to wear or to expect (footwear, gear, clothes). Pre-information could substantially be improved. The breakfast, was typical Costa Rican (fruits, rice, omlettes). And the lunch afterwards was not really thrilling.... More

I did a 2-day, 1-night trip on the Rio Pacuare, and had a superb time. The guides were excellent, very skilled and knowledgable about the river and the environment. The lodge that RT has on the river is just spectacular, and they provide great food. There are hikes to do from the lodge, and a few small-ish zip lines included... More

We did a 3 day rafting trip with one night at the river lodge. Guides were awesome. First day was a 2 hour route class I - III. Next day set out on Paqcure 5 hrs of fun. Stopped along the river to have lunch, slide down a waterful, and swim. River lodge was great. Dinner & breakfast was fantastic... More

We signed up for the Pacaure River 3 day trip. Please read all of this because my review includes wonderful, okay, and horrible. First the wonderful...our guide Johnathan was the best guide ever. He was so nice and attentive. Always wanting to make sure we were having a good experience. Next...okay....there is not a lot of things to do around... More

Greg, I am sorry to know that you had to hike out of our Lodge due to high water, it is always a bummer for everyone, this year has been unseasonally rainy , but only a couple days were we had to hike out. When we get so much rain our hydro system and pipes go crazy , it happens... More

http://www.riostropicales.com/index.php/adventure-travel/whitewater-rafting/pacuare-river-day-trip The trip only happened because our CEO (Chief Experience Officer) with G adventures recommended it to us. This excursion's guide was Michael.... who was directing our paddling by using 'Forward' and 'Alto'. We soon trained him to use "Adelante' and 'Alto'... so we would know just one more Spanish word! We spent 4 hours in Michael's office - the... More

This was our second trip on the Pacuare with Rios Tropicales. There were some improvements in the transportation to the river since our 1st trip in 2013. Keep in mind that this is 4 hours on the river with about 40 rapids to navigate. You will be tested and tired. We have done a lot of rafting and this is... More

We booked the overnight rafting trip of the Pacuare river. It was nice an relaxed, rapids weren't crazy but they were exciting. We stopped at a view lovely places on the way to the lodge. Part way down the river the guides let you go explore while they flip the raft over and cook up some lunch. It was pretty... More

My friend and I booked the white water rafting on Pacuare with Rios Tropicales. A great day, full of fun. Our guide Rey was fantastic and funny, one of the best days we've had in Costa Rica. From reservation online to going home almost everything went well. One criticism... In their center (before the rafting) we bought a bottle of... More

The rafting was great, our guide, Juan Carlos, was very informative and super friendly. If you have time, do a 2 day trip and stay in the lodge. We did and it was awesome. The rooms are simple, but there are REAL bathrooms, so even though you are in the middle of the rain forest, it is not completely devoid... More

We booked the one day tour on the Pacuare, and it was phenomenal. It started with an early morning pick up from our hotel, with a scening drive to the Rios Tropicales headquarters. After a delicious breakfast, and the chance to get changed into our gear, we headed toward the river. The four hours on the river were incredible -... More
