Rios Tropicales is an eco-adventure company that operates throughout Costa Rica. We offer adventure activities that take advantage of Costa Rica’s unique variety of environments: whitewater rafting, multisport activities that feature kayaking, canoeing, hiking, and cycling, family adventures, cultural encounters, nature and wildlife tours, and “volun-tourism”. Our mission, to share the rivers, natural resources and culture of Costa Rica while sharing conservation values, has not changed since we began in 1985. Rios Tropicales was established by native Central Americans, El Salvadorian Rafael Gallo and Costa Rican Fernando Esquivel, whose deep connection with the region and culture are apparent in every aspect of the company.

I was thoroughly impressed with this company overall. They picked us up around 3 hours away from the location which was incredible. The bus was clean and had AC and was very comfortable. Then when we arrived at the Operations Center we were met with a great breakfast and a very thorough explanation of what the river would be like... More

Rios Tropicales could not have been better to work with. The weather forced my trip to be cancelled, but they worked with me to get me on the river before I headed home. I worked as a guide so I when I tell you their guides know their stuff and make it fun it is genuine praise. The river is... More

Rios Tropicales cancelled our trip the night before we were supposed to depart. We landed in San Jose to find an email that the trip had been cancelled and were very frustrated, as we needed to scramble to re-arrange our trip. The trip was cancelled due to high water levels, which is completely understandable. However, Rios Tropicales made no effort... More

I agree with all of the reviews about the stunning beauty of the Jungle Lodge and the Pacuare River itself, but our trip with Rios Tropicales left such a bad taste in my mouth I can't honestly write a positive review. One bad guide can truly ruin a trip. We were in Costa Rica recently during the heavy rains which... More

Thanks Ann for your review, I will be looking into this incident further, as its definitedlly not acceptable by our standards, I know that lots of rain for such a long time , gets everyone down. But is no excuse for what you experienced, I have two estebans , so I will make sure I talk to the right one. More

Rafted with them last week and had a great time. They pick you up from your hotel and drop you back off there or anywhere else you want. The day we were supposed to go the water level was too high so we had to wait a day but it was well worth the wait. This wasn't a "go through... More

The Rio Sarapique was a great time rafting. Had a great time with my son & a few friends. The scenery is beautiful. The staff was great; lunch was included as well. Just all & all a fun time.

This was one of the biggest highlights of our trip! My wife and I signed up for the 3 day 2 night trip, and we had an incredible amount of fun rafting, and seeing the wildlife and scenery along the river canyon. The staff are excellent and top notch. This river is better for rafting than the Rio Toro. The... More

The Rio Sarapique is a beautiful river. Rafting was really fun, but we are from Colorado and have been in much faster and rougher rapids. As much as I enjoyed the rafting the scenery, bird life, and plant life was amazing. Shower and changing facilities were good. Lunch was provided and was good. You were able to buy photos of...
