Owner description: Rios Tropicales is an eco-adventure company that operates throughout Costa Rica. We offer adventure activities that take advantage of Costa Rica’s unique variety of environments: whitewater rafting, multisport activities that feature kayaking, canoeing, hiking, and cycling, family adventures, cultural encounters, nature and wildlife tours, and “volun-tourism”. Our mission, to share the rivers, natural resources and culture of Costa Rica while sharing conservation values, has not changed since we began in 1985. Rios Tropicales was established by native Central Americans, El Salvadorian Rafael Gallo and Costa Rican Fernando Esquivel, whose deep connection with the region and culture are apparent in every aspect of the company.

We had a fabulous trip with Rios Tropicales on Pacuare river in Costa Rica. Everything was very well organized and thought through: the meals, the accommodations (we booked an overnight trip). The guides are excellent. (One of them - Leonardo - is a birder and has extensive knowledge of local birds). The rafting itself was great: exhilarating and fun, amid... More

Whitewater rafting on the Savegre River with Rios Tropicales was one of many highlights of our trip to Costa Rica. We had chosen this particular tour because the rapids were class II and class III which turned out to be perfect for us. Many years before, my wife and I had rafted on the Revantazon in Costa Rica with class... More

Enzor was wonderful guide and food was delicious. The overnight splits the one day trip in half and adds lots of short hikes to waterfalls and other natural beauty. We relaxed in the evening on hammocks on a deck with beautiful views. We are experienced rafters and this the best river I have ever been on! I first ran the... More

My daughter and I turned over our lives to Rio Tropicales for 3 days of adventure along the Pacuare River. If you are going to Costa Rica I suggest you raft with Rios Tropicales. What I learned is the multiple day trips and the one day trips do the same rapids... so I suggest do the one day. The company picked us up in San Jose and took care of everything until they dropped us off 11 hours later back... More

This company did a wonderful job in making this the best day we had in Costa Rica. They picked us up at our hotel and even called the hotel the day before to be sure we knew the time of pickup. Breakfast and lunch included. The rafting was great! One rapid after another. We were very tired by the end... More

This outfit is very professional. The whole operation- I mean it, it is a serious and precise ...food serving, organizing lifts for dozens of people going different ways, the rafting itself, safety talk...the works!) Rios Tropicales run smoothly and efficiently. I was really impressed by the slickness of their business. I was nervous and scared before rafting the Pacuare river... More

The Rios Tropicales overnight rafting trip and accommodations at the lodge were the highlight for our family of five. We loved the rafting and especially loved the setting, scenery and tranquility at the lodge. Our guide, Ricardo, was amazing and as part of our overnight stay, we took advantage of Ricardo's guided hike and swim at the natural waterslide. We... More

We stayed in dwtn San Jose. Rios Tropicales picked us up in dwtn and drove us via bus 2.5 SE. We were provided breakfast and a locker (bring a lock). We went on a 3 hour 20 mile adventure down the Pacaure River. WHAT AN ADVENTURE! It's hard work paddling and you will likely get dumped into the river so... More
