Owner description: Rios Tropicales is an eco-adventure company that operates throughout Costa Rica. We offer adventure activities that take advantage of Costa Rica’s unique variety of environments: whitewater rafting, multisport activities that feature kayaking, canoeing, hiking, and cycling, family adventures, cultural encounters, nature and wildlife tours, and “volun-tourism”. Our mission, to share the rivers, natural resources and culture of Costa Rica while sharing conservation values, has not changed since we began in 1985. Rios Tropicales was established by native Central Americans, El Salvadorian Rafael Gallo and Costa Rican Fernando Esquivel, whose deep connection with the region and culture are apparent in every aspect of the company.

I went on the 2-day Pacuare rafting trip in November 2014. The rafting itself was fun, but not the best rafting experience I've had. The best part of the trip was the scenery along the river - 30km of pristine rainforst, including one of the coolest canyons I've ever seen, with shear cliffs rising out of the water. We overnighted... More

River rafting is usually an exhilarating experience for me. Despite it's so tiring for your back, the wet and wild, soaking run is always a clear reminder of the power and beauty of the oudoors. Ríos Tropicales was the first hit upon googling a tour to the Pacuare. After some cross-check in TripAdvisor, I decided to book them. I was... More

What an amazing solution to what could have been an boring travel day from La Fortuna to San Jose. Instead of just getting the bus, Rio Tropicales picked us up, fed us breakfast and lunch a dropped us in San Jose at the end of the day. In the middle of all that we spent 3 hours rafting down the... We did the Pacuare River one day trip with Rios Tropicales. The cost of the trip was very reasonable as it included 2 meals (the food was good!), pick up and drop off, and all of the rafting equipment. The staff and our guides were friendly and knowledgeable. It was a little crowded on the way to the river from... More

My husband and I braved a rafting trip on the Pacuare river on day 2 of our recent honeymoon. We were picked up at our hotel (bright and EARLY) in the morning, transported to the operations center where we enjoyed a great breakfast, had an AMAZING rafting experience (class III-IV rapids), came back to the operations center for a hearty... We booked the 2 night trip with Rios Tropicales and it was the best part of our 8 days in Costa Rica. The creek hiking at the Lodge was as much fun as the river rapids. We jumped off logs and waterfalls into natural swimming pools, hiked to the top of the canyon for the view and went zip lining.... More

We added the four-day Pacuare trip to the end of nine days touring around Costa Rica and are so glad we did. Our two days on the river and two layover days at the Rios Tropicales Lodge were the highlight of our trip. Our guides, Otto and Ricardo, did a fantastic job, being friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Our... More

I did the day trip from my hotel in San Jose in September 2014. It was a very long day, but worth it. I was picked up at my hotel at 6 am, arrived at the facility for breakfast around 8 am, and on the river around 9:30 or 10 am. The rafting itself was about 4 hours, although that... More

We booked the 4-Day-Trip with a 3 day stay at the lodge in August 2014. The minibus picked us up at the Hotel in San Jose. At the river, we met our guide, Otto. He took care of us for the following 4 days, like a nurse :-) He was the boss in the boat, he cooked tasty meals for... More
