Rios Tropicales is an eco-adventure company that operates throughout Costa Rica. We offer adventure activities that take advantage of Costa Rica’s unique variety of environments: whitewater rafting, multisport activities that feature kayaking, canoeing, hiking, and cycling, family adventures, cultural encounters, nature and wildlife tours, and “volun-tourism”. Our mission, to share the rivers, natural resources and culture of Costa Rica while sharing conservation values, has not changed since we began in 1985. Rios Tropicales was established by native Central Americans, El Salvadorian Rafael Gallo and Costa Rican Fernando Esquivel, whose deep connection with the region and culture are apparent in every aspect of the company.

We did the two night, three day trip which I would highly recommend as with this option you get a day at the lodge to explore and immerse into the rainforest! I have to admit to being very apprehensive at the start of the trip since I had never been white water rafting before, however once in the raft with... More

We rafted the Florida section of the Reventazon River with Johnny on the raft and Jonathan on ground transportation. Both were top flight. The experience was great class II Rapids. The scenery was beautiful and the rapids were exciting and fun. The bathroom and showers were clean and modern. Lunch was outstanding in its simplicity. We would do it again!

Excellent adventure! Exactly what I was looking for. We did the two day trip, which consisted of sleeping over night at their eco lodge. Food was great. Rooms were clean with an excellent view of the river. Make sure to bring a gopro or waterproof camera!! I used mine all the time and got some amazing pictures.

I put my trip together on my own. I travelled solo. (I've been to CR before). I chose this activity bc of the reviews. Rios Tropicales does everything extremely well. You don't have to concern yourself with anything except having fun. The River is gorgeous. The lodge is casual and beautiful. Really incredible. The guides are skilled, fun, personable, and... More

We really felt like this was a once in a lifetime experience - we did the overnight trip. We had never been white water rafting before. We booked this through Costa Rica Experts - the only negative was that we didn't know ahead of time that our suitcases wouldn't go with us, and we could only take backpacks. This is... More

,Thanks a lot for your very complete review, I am sorry about the miscomunication with the luggage , mainly it is that the regular luggage dont fir in the drybags, plus you end up carrying lots of weight on the oar boat, with stuff you may only need for later on your vacation....but sounds like our compensation to keep your... We went on the two-day rafting trip through the canyons and into the Rain Forest where we stayed overnight. Between the rapids, jumping into the river for a swim, hiking into the forest to swim underneath waterfalls, the smiles were plentiful and easy to find. Great trip for people who like outdoor excursions.

My wife and I do a lot of adventure travel and this expedition is still at the top of our charts. The guides were incredible, the river and lodging (for the overnight packages) was fantastic and the rafting experience itself, top notch. This isn't for your hardcore adrenaline junkies as its equal parts exciting and relaxing. What you will find... More

We were picked up right from the hotel and drove for approx 3 hours. They fed us an excellent breakfast before kitting us up for the river adventure. We were well briefed on the dos and don'ts of white water rafting. The rapids were exhilarating and there was even opportunities to jump into the water and float down the river... More

My friend and I did the 2 day, 1 night trip, and it was easily the highlight of our week in Costa Rica! We were impressed from the moment we got picked up in Puerto Viejo, and the driver was 5 minutes early! Breakfast at the operations Centre was delicious, we had to wait around a while for the others... More

Just completed a 2 night 3 day at Rios Tropicles. It was great. We were assigned a guide to look after us and he did an absolute fabulous job. High five to Estaban!!!!
