The wood products you will find here are one of a kind. You can tour the grounds and see how long each piece takes to make from start to finish. Everything is done entirely by hand. It was so fun to see the products being made at various stages. If you are in the area, this is a must see!!

We visited Woodworks without an appointment and were immediately greeted by Minor who gave us a tour of the garden and the woodshop. He was very knowledgeable and friendly and explained how every piece is created. The tour is for free and there is no pressure to purchase anything afterwards although we were so fascinated, that we wanted to take... More

Our visit was an unexpected highlight! We had fun locating the studio. Minor warmly greeted us and gave informative, interesting tour of gardens and studio. He made us feel so welcome. Artistry is awesome to regard. Gardens lovely. No pressure to buy. Very worthwhile visit - thoroughly enjoyed the time even with 2 teenagers! Highly recommend!

They have a very nice showroom which was designed on local houses and lovely garden area. Also, one can visit the factory to see how it is all done. The handmade products are made from beautiful local woods by local real craftsman not some automated shop designed to cookie-cutter out product. A must visit when in San Jose, Escazu, especially... I covet almost everything in that showroom. I've been in museums with fewer articles of beauty. I've visited the Woodworks three or four times. Twice I've taken the tour of the workshop where I learned about wood and how Biesanz works with nature rather than against it to make items fit as gifts for world leaders. The grounds between the... We visited Biesanz's workshops a few years ago and our only regret is to not have written this review sooner. If you are in San Jose and have an interest in art or woodworking, do make the time for a visit. His work is of extraordinary quality and this is one of the most precious souvenirs you can bring home... More

If you appreciate high end wood craft, this place is worth seeking out. We were fortunate to meet Barry and found him to be an affable and gracious host. Even if Barry is out you will be welcomed by a friendly staff person who will give an informative tour of the workshop and the small nature preserve out back. And... More

The tour is free and you get to see how this marvelous artist and the artesans that work with him do a great job with wood. I liked the service, the information and the place. I think this is a place you should see when you come to Costa Rica. Also, if you want to buy a piece, there are... More

Many have great skills but few have the skill and sensitivity of Barry Biesanz. His work not only shows his high level of skill but also his unique ability to use the character of the piece of wood itself. His gallery is filled with delicate and shapely bowls, beautiful boxes and, interesting pieces of furniture. Anyone who appreciates craftsmanship and... More
