We booked through grayline and were not disappointed! They kept us stocked up on good food and different drinks throughout the day. Lunch was excellent and the views were great. I would suggest bringing water shoes since the beach has some hidden rocks in the water.

Took the day trip to Tortuga island out of Puntenares. Grayline picked us up at our hotel, dropped us off right to the boat. Loved the ride over with a great staff! Once on the island, the same great staff ran the snorkeling, banana boat, cooked, served, you name it & they it!!!

After hearing great things about this little island, my husband and I booked a trip trough Zuma Tours. It was a waste of a day. This place is a classic tourist trap. The snorkeling conditions were terrible and we saw very few fish. The beach itself was small and quite crowded. The lunch included with the tour was small and... More

Almost a virgin paradise, unspoiled beach great for relaxation and sun bathing. Some activities such as snorkeling and banana boats are available at a cost. The gift shop is the commercial core of the place (locker rentals, etc) Highly remmended if you like pristine waters and white sands

This was a great place. It was very relaxing and there was a ton to do but of course you had to add that to what you were already paying to get over there or the tour you're taking.

Spend the $7 for the chaise lounger under an umbrella - totally worth the money. Recommend water shoes since the beach has a lot of debris, both natural (rocks and wood) and man-made (garbage). Also the sand is very hot. Gift shop was impressive - full of spectacular tourist crap (which I love) and fairly large. Semi-wild parrots and a... More

If you're in San José, going to the beach is generally a multi-hour trip that is only worth if you're going at least for a night or two. Isla Tortuga is a great destination for a day trip, and there are lots of tours available that include meals and transportation. Don't expect much when it comes to luxury. It's a... More

we took a day trip to go to Tortuga island with bay island cruises. This was the highlight of our 10 days Costa Rica trip. Amazing island. The beach is fantastic. You will find plenty chairs to rent under the tall Palm trees, see colorful parrots ( like local couple: Paco & Lola), black wild pigs, iguanas and many more...Highly... More
