Took a catamaran cruise to the island . We snorkeled for about 30 minutes. Which we thought was too short for trip you make to get there. They offer banana boat rides which are very lame and very exciting. There's a volleyball court which was fun but the sand can get hot. I recommend a light longsleeve shirt or longsleeve... More

I did the Tortuga Island Cruise with Calypso Cruises on their catamaran. The cost was $139. That seemed steep but it was a full day so I wanted to try it. They pick you up and drop you off at your hotel. The driver was prompt, friendly, informative and safe. Breakfast is typical Costa Rican served cafeteria style. The catamaran... More

We loved our guide and the tour overall. The snorkeling was nice, the boat ride soft, and the food decent. We were led to believe, though, that there would be opportunities to explore the island, but the forest is actually restricted. There is only one shop, and the beach chairs alone cost $7. None of these things were terrible, just... More

The snorkeling was very poor and the island was ok for an hour, but unless you pay to rent anything, (beach chairs, boat rides, kayaks, even the bathroom), there's not much to do unless you want to go for a walk. We used Montezuma Expeditions who were a big disappointment and very unorganized. First they should have let us know... More

The boat trip with Zuma tours was nice and snorkelling was ok. The island was a great disappointment : just a tourist trap. When we landed on the beach there was a tourist group singing karaoke. You could not leave the beach area without paying somebody. You even had to pay for the toilet. Don't waste your time.

We booked a trip to Tortuga Island with Arenas Travel. For their part, it was fantastic. The island itself is beautiful but there is nothing to do there. There are quite a few tour companies who come to the island on all forms of transportation from motor boats to catamarans. The snorkelling is good and the food provided by our... More

We made a detour to visit the island and do some snorkelling. The guide was great, giving us background information on all the islands and slowing down a lot for us to take photos. A lot of companies come to this area but the one we went with had a private beach area as well as a certain snorkelling area... More

The University of Costa Rica (where I'm attending classes) contracted with Calypso Tours to take about 90 of us to Isla Tortuga. I can't say enough good about them. The catamaran was clean and it was great sitting on the net over the water. The breakfast was delicious, all water and sodas were free on the boat and on the... More

It is beautiful here! I think your experience here is dependent on how much you have traveled and other places you have been. This is very much like a shore excursion from a cruise ship. Somewhat like the cruise lines that have their own island. The plus: Sandy beach, hammocks, food, tourist shop, and nice warm water with a gentle... More

Went there out of Montezuma with the yellow agency named "Cabo Blanco Travelers". Don't ! They are just after your $ They just contract others like Eco Tour which has a boat in Montezuma to take you there. If It doesn't go as planned, they'll just blame everybody but you'll never get your money back ! Aside from this I... More
