We had a simple but lovely 2-bedroom bungalow for ourselves and 2 teen-aged grandchildren. The grounds are full of lush foliage and flowers. The swimming pool is delightful. The zipline, which included identification of animals seen on the walk to the platforms, was a first for us old folks but exciting and fun. Food was excellent. A special treat was... More

Our group of eight embarked on the Mangrove Walk in the early evening late in June. Our tour guide, Carlos, was extremely well versed in the area and a total delight throughout our walk. Unfortunately, about half way through it began to rain – first just lightly and then later an absolute cloudburst. Undaunted, we all covered up our cameras... More

My wife and I took the self guided tour through the rain forest. The entrance fee to the park is $7 as of May ,2014. During the about 90 minute walk we had the pleasure of spotting several animals including a Sloth, a Tapir looking animal, and several species of birds....WARNING: do not do this hike without bug repellent!!....After enjoying... The zip lines were fun and our nine-year-old (who is typically not very daring) eagerly zipped. I enjoyed the zip lines but my favorite part was the hike up. It's not strenuous by any stretch and our guides were extremely knowledgeable about the park, the animals, the vegetation, and Costa Rican history and interesting facts. In the short trek up,... Our family of 4 (kids 8 and 10) took the rainforest hike in April. We thought there would be a big group, but it was just us and Carlos, our guide. We saw all kinds of jungle animals/birds - coati, peccaries, sloths, iguana, toucans, leaf cutter ants, mot mots, lizards, butterflies, poison dart frogs and best of all a troop... More

We took the self guided tour and we spent a whole day exploring the park. You receive a map at the entrance and you can follow the trails (most of which are about 2 km each). This tour cost 7$/person. Even though we didn't have a guide, we could find on our own quite a few animals: sloth, caiman, parrot... More

We saw the video on their website of a young boy zip lining at HB, so we figured our nearly 6 year old could handle it. He LOVED it, but we didn't know to expect that you have to HIKE all the way up the steep trails. They do stop periodically to look around and rest, but for a kid... More

My husband and I were looking for something low key when we stopped at Hacienda Baru, and decided on Flight of the Toucan. Our guides, Olman and Pedro, were very knowledgable about the forest and were quick to spot sloths, monkeys, birds, etc. If you're not in shape, the uphill trails can be a little hard, but I took it... I have always wanted to zip line in Costa Rica and my family and friends spent several hours hiking up slopes and zipping down through the canopy. Our two guides worked well together. One would go ahead while we were hiking and set up the telescope on the trail so we could see birds or a sloth. We learned a... More

We booked our canopy tour through the visitor information centre in Uvita. The centre is a wonderful resource with very helpful staff who can arrange your booking with any attraction in the Ojochal/Puntarenas region of Costa Rica. The climb up the mountain is very long and steep - make sure you are well hydrated before starting out. The guides are... More
