Great Trip

I had a blast. Great horses. Great people. I would go again. 40 Characters to go. It's odd I've never had a minimum limit of a review.

I signed up for the horseback ride and waterfall rappel. The overall experience was great but had some unexpected surprises along the way. The horseback ride was much longer than I expected and had minimal instruction. Two of the four members of our group (one of whom was me) had no horseback riding experience. I received minimal instructions, but the... More

I booked rancho tropical on a Saturday with two other friends for horseback riding and waterfall rappelling. It was simply AMAZING. our hosts were kind and friendly and super flexible when we showed up late after a delayed hitchhike. I would 100% recommend this affordable adventure.

Carlos picked up the two of us at the beach beyond our Osa home with two horses, both of which fit us as riders (one very experienced and one novice) and delighted us with several hours of riding the beach, pastures and mountain trails. Carlos was especially knowledgeable of the region, climate and animals constantly looking into the trees and... More

Being 65+, my wife and I opted to just stick with the horse ride and skip throwing ourselves down a waterfall. Two very nice Ticos horses took us on a 2:45 ride through fields, rain forest and beach. Our guide, Carlos, was able to show us, and explain, a wide variety of plants, trees and birds to us. We were... More

Be ready for an adventure! The horses were well trained - no problem there. But the tour was a bit trying. If you have not been in the saddle before this is probably not a good way to start. If you are up for a challenging course this is for you! I loved it!! Now that I know what to... More

I went out with two other girls from the yoga retreat I was on over at Boca Sombrero. We had two guides who met us down on the beach -- Carlos and Walkam -- and they were so nice and informative and led us on this great adventure. The horses are well-cared for and energetic and the guides very skilled... More

Our horseback ride was a highlight of our trip. The guide was friendly, the horses sensitive and responsive (and incredibly hardy in the heat!). The views from the hills were beautiful of the ocean and going on the beaches was also a real treat as well as seeing a glorious waterfall. Be prepared for a steep descent to the falls... More

We booked the tour at Ojo del Mar Lodge right next to the Rancho Tropical. The horses and the 3 hour tour were great. The waterfall is very nice and you only see it included in this tour as it is on the private property of the ranch.

Our guide was fantastic (Excellent horseman) and his English was pretty good (my Spanish is bad) , we saw beautiful scenery a huge waterfall with people repelling down it. The horses were well kept and cared for. I would recommend this highly to anyone in the Puerto Jimenez/ Matapalo area!
