No tour guide available the day I visited, but the small gardens were nicely maintained with interpretive signs. The butterflies and gorgeous gardens were worth the hot climb up the road to the farm. A useful amenity for the future would be provision of smoothies or light snacks.

Pauline, the guide, was very informative and nice. She was very happy to answer questions. We saw their caterpillar nursery and received a great tour of that as well. Good experience.

We stayed at the B&B that is here. The hosts gave us some great education about the life cycle of the butterfly's here.

Rescued crocs, caiman, and turtles in one enclosure and an awesome array of butterflies in another, complete with a nursery for the chrysalises. Great place to visit for an hour or so with the kids. Apparently they have tree frog exhibit at night, but we were there in the morning.

It's a walk up the hill out of town, but well worth the visit. I stayed a night here and was really pleased about everything. The breakfast is fantastic. They brew the local beer, which is fantastic, I love the Earthquake IPA. The butterfly garden is gorgeous. I'm headed back here on a work/stay program for two months (Nov-Dec 14).... More

The Mariposario is top notch in the area for its generous grounds populated with a great variety of exotic butterflies. It is also a bed and breakfast and those who stay will certainly enjoy the many routine animal encounters with excellent photo platforms doubling as breakfast tables. if your luckier still you may be able to coax the friendly owner... We had a great time sitting and watching the Blue Morpho's feeding flying and resting on the plants. We had a tour of the lab and their egg, larva, chrysalis stores. They have a research center on site and also have a gift shop and BB on the premises.

We stayed at this BnB associated with the Gardens. The gardens are worth a visit, you may have a chance to see them nurture the eggs and caterpillars too. We also saw a howler monkey family cross the road near the BnB. The people are inviting and warm and friendly, we loved staying here! The road is a bit steep... More

I enjoyed it simply because I love seeing butterflies and being outside. Not much info and could be kept in better condition. Not many butterflies considering it is a butterfly garden Waterfall hike was good and so was the swim when you got there Bring good sandals the hike is not just regular path to the falls.

We came for the Butterfly Gardens and the hike to the waterfall. The gardens is a very small (and let me emphasize small) area with only a few butterflies. It is not worth it. We did see 3 blue butterflies, but I saw more butterflies on our nature hike. The waterfall hike is nice. If you are wanting to go... More
