We had been swimming in the Montezuma river and it was crystal clear . The next day we hiked into the falls after a torrential rain that night. Big difference. Now muddy and running higher and stronger we were glad to be adopted by Crazy Carlos, a local who knows this water like he knows himself. He safely managed us... More

You know it is a must see when there is a tourist attraction that all the locals go to. In the rainy season, it can be a little more of a challenge to get back to the falls. The scenery and peacefulness of the place is worth it. Make sure you wear your swim suit so you can jump in... More

The falls, wild life and good surf are defiantly the highlights of Costa Rica. So put on some hiking shoes or tough it out. I did this hike without shoes, it's a little tricky but worth it. When you get to the top the water is much clearer and it's far less crowded. Two pools a view down from the tallest... More

The hike could be a challenge to some as you'll be going over slippery rocks at points. The short hike there was rugged and enjoyable! The falls were nice. The pool was a muddy color but the falls were still beautiful. Locals will cliff dive which is fun to watch! I went just before noon.

Easy hike in even for the novice hiker, provided you have good shoes on. We didn't plan on doing the hike that day and walkedminnlike idiots in flip-flops. Did the hike but would have been a lot safer / fun in closed toe shoes! The falls are breath taking, swimming in the lower pools with the tall cascade behind was... More

This is a long trek down to the falls but once you get there it is well worth the visit. The falls are beautiful and the people watching is awesome!

Nice 30-45 min hike, bit challenging over wet rocks, but it's an adventure. 3 waterfalls - most people stop at no.1 and swim, relax. Worth the hike but not appropriate for children. I saw a newborn being carried - brave/stupid! 45 mins from Tambor beach, 1 hour from Paquera ferry port. Cheap parking: $2 all day with someone supervising. TAKE... More

The walk to the base of the waterfall is a bit bumpy, but that is only the boring part. There are two ways to reach the higher lying plateaus above the waterfall including natural pools and a smaller waterfall. There is a steep path with steps on the left side (facing the waterfall), a bit laid back. At the top... More

A pretty good hike through the waterfalls and treetops to see the best view of the Montezuma, Saint Teresa area. Definitely want to make sure to wear the appropriate gear since climbing relatively steep cliffs is required in order to get to the third waterfall. Atop the third fall, there are some great adventurous "toys" (rope swing and natural jumping... More
