Cool waterfall

Really cool waterfalls, but definitely wear some hiking boots or at least sneakers if you want to do the climb to the upper levels.

water falls are great for cooling off in the swimming hole but got harassed by the local coconut crackers about paying to park my quad there. i simply told them no and i was left alone. Sometimes in foreign countries you have to stand up for yourself in a non threatening way in order to get treated respectfully.

This was hardly worth the walk but it is close to town. When we were there it was just a little creek with a few rocks. Maybe it would be more interesting if it had more water in it.... We were there in June.

I have visited the Montezuma Falls on 3 separate occasions throughout my study abroad experience in Costa Rica and each time introduced me to something different. All trips were taken between February and May in the dry season. Adventure 1-Arrival at the falls late morning Sunday, strenuous hike along the ridge line to the right of the river rather than... This a great thing to do in montezuma. It takes an hour or so to hike up to the falls. We arrived after heavy rains, so the water levels were very high. And the water was very brown, when normally its very clear. It was clear 3 years ago when I was last here. Make sure you head to the... More

Don't forget to keep going when you see the first waterfall, the best is yet to come. You need to hike/climb up some pretty steep bits and rocks but it's 100% worth it! So much better than more touristy waterfalls like la fortuna

I had fun on this hike. The waterfalls are nice, but this seems to be a popular stop for hippies and backpackers to visit. We his manage to see and hear some howler monkeys!

15 min hike to falls over rocks and brush/tree roots. Slippery in some places, wear good shoes. Worth the hike, big pool to swim in at foot of falls. Our little dog loved it, made some friends along the way. Some brave (stupid?) young people climbing up the rocks around the falls/cliff. Many dive into the pool from the side... More

Took a quad from Santa Teresa, beautiful 20 min ride through the jungle and Cabya, stopped at different beaches, there is a nice river and ocean together, so serene! The waterfalls are nice and cool, perfect hangout on a hot day.
