I've stayed a la escuela del sol for 1 week in April and my only regret is that I couldn't stay longer. I have travelled to many places and this little oasis in Montezuma is perfect. I took yoga and surfing lessons. Although I wasn't sold on yoga prior to my arrival, I got positively surprised by the benefits you... More

I went to Zan and Aurora's poi retreat through Escuela Del Sol. I have to say it was one of my best experiences traveling and learning ever. The accomodations were of course lovely but the best part was the teaching by Zan and Aurora and yoga with Banyan. Our group was small and intimate and we learned so much and... More

Wow, what can I say about La Escuela del Sol that is believable. I'm still having a hard time believing the pure bliss and adventure I experienced there. First the little town of Montezuma where it is placed is picturesque in every way possible. It is no bigger than some of our mega stores like target and walmart here in... More

I did a one week intermediate/advanced poi retreat with Escuela Del Sol and playpoi. Our accomodations were elsewere than the normal accomodations, at Casitas Sol Levante - higher up the hill. It's a little walk from "downtown" (in the montezuma heat), but they offered a shuttle every day so it was easy to get groceries. Also, this place was in... More

Although I was only at the school for 1 week, I met a handful of amazing people (travelers, locals and ex-pats) through my classes and at the hotel. As a solo traveler, it was really nice to find cool people with similar interests. The surf and yoga instructors were really down-to-earth and welcoming. The hotel staff went out of their... More

If you are looking for a truly literal immersion experience, this is the place to go. You not only get to learn the language (if you choose that course), but the culture of Costa Rica, which is without a doubt a unique thing. The teachers are fun, friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, patient and relaxed. They make you work hard without even... More

Hey Mike, So glad you had a great immersion experience. Looks like you got a lot out of your Spanish classes especially! It was also cool to see you enjoy this vacation with your dad! It's important to note that you guys didn't stay at the school but rather at another location farther away from town, so walking was a... More

I spent two weeks in Montezuma at Escuela de Sol and fell in love with everything about it! The kitchen was stacked full of appliances and I was surprised at the lack of bugs. The rooms were comfortable and a decent size. I am more a hot shower kind of girl, but the cold showers were nice considering all of... More

Hey Juliana, I'm glad you had such a great time. We've made some improvements since May that I think you'd really like. We've moved hotels, such that every room now has hot water and A/C, there's 24 hour receptionist/security and safe deposit boxes large enough for laptops in almost every room. We're also much closer to the surfing beach now.... More
