Our experience with SunTrails Canopy Zipline Tours in Montezuma was incredible! I’ve never been zip lining before and our guides were incredibly patient and helpful. It was such a gorgeous way to see the lush forest, and also just the right amount of terrifying.
Honestly the most terrifying part was jumping off a rock into the 2nd Waterfall of Montezuma Falls. But a once-in-a-lifetime sort of experience. It’s not required of guests by any means, but I mean, when else am I going to have that kind of opportunity? This tour probably offers the best way to experience Montezuma Falls. There was a small group of us, whereas I know the bottom waterfall is the most commonly visited by tourists. Doing it this way felt magical and special, especially after we quite literally flew over the forest to get there.
Everyone who worked there was super friendly and even had fresh fruit and cold bottles of water waiting for us at the end.
I will say the second part of the tour is a LOT of stairs, so if you have any mobility issues this is probably not the activity for you. We’re both relatively fit, but the guides encouraged us to take our time and we kindda hustled after all that adrenaline. I have no doubt they would be happy to let any guests take their sweet time getting up those steps.
Make sure you’ve got good waterproof shoes and you wear/bring something you don’t mind getting wet! Swimming and climbing around the falls is so worth it.
Thanks so much for an incredible experience!

My daughter and I enjoyed a recent Sun Trails two-day overnight tour from Tambor to Monteverde and the Arenal volcano with Ernesto as our guide and driver.
Ernesto is a very professional, knowledgeable, and experienced guide with an excellent sense of humour, which made the trip even more satisfying. He is very passionate about his profession and it is obvious that Ernesto enjoys sharing his knowledge of his country and the wonders that it contains.
Ernesto continually excelled in making the trip a memorable one for both of us and we feel that we were lucky to have experienced Costa Rica through his eyes. We highly recommend him as a tour guide for any adventure-not just zip-lining!

I had never been ziplining before and these guys made it so easy to get going. No one else was signed up for my time slot, so I got a private tour and everything was super well done. I was nervous because i had read an earlier review about someone’s hand slipping out, but the guides taught me where to put my hand so that would not be an issue. They gave me a full safety review and were very attentive to ensure I was doing it right. They took videos and pictures for me so I could share the memories with my friends/family and were in general really fun people to hang out with. The views were incredible and the break to jump into the waterfall is unique- I would totally do this again and rate this as a must have experience in Costa Rica!

We did three tours with Ernesto and he was incredible. I highly recommend you get Ernesto as your tour guide. He was always on time, very professional, extremely knowledgeable, nice and funny to be with, and he always made the tour fun and more than we could’ve hoped for.

This was my second time doing this zip line course. I really enjoyed it! Our guides were wonderful and we had a great time. Our group was much smaller than before (only 5 of us instead of 8) which I liked better because I don’t do heights well and I didn’t feel crowded on the platforms. My friend even jumped off the waterfall.
One thing that was different, and I’m not sure if it was for safety reasons, was that the leather grip that is necessary was glued onto a leather glove instead of in its original form. My glove seemed to be coming a little loose and it made me feel less safe than I had before. I imagine the switch to the full-fingered glove was due to someone injuring themselves without it.

I had never been zip lining before, so I didn't know what to expect, but I was really impressed by the whole process. The guides gave excellent instruction, were helpful and even funny. The zip lines were really neat and provided ocean views. The stop at the waterfall was my favorite.. definitely jump the 10 feet into the water to cool off! Though we had a fairly large group, we moved along quite efficiently. They captured great video and pics, and we bought it at the end. Be aware: there are quite a few stairs you must go up and down in between zip lines.

The worst Zipline experience I’ve ever had. It was mostly climbing up steep, root covered stairs and a lot of waiting around for the entire group to assemble before moving to the next cable. The tour guides were not friendly at all, and basically did what they had to do, and that was it. The lines are short and lack any views or points of interest. A waste of money…. Go for a nice lunch instead.

If there were more stars, we would award them.
We lost a wallet on the bus during the transfer to the airport.
A short email with the request to search the bus was enough and Cindy from SunTrails took care of everything. After the wallet was found in the bus, Cindy unselfishly took care of everything else so that we got everything back as quickly as possible.
Many thanks to Cindy and SunTrails.

A perfect adventure for my 10 years old daughter. I let her go alone, it was her first time and she was so excited and happy after that, she could not stop talking about.
I wanted to send special thanks to the 2 guides that took excellent care of my daughter - Ernesto and Armando. She said they are the BEST.

The guides were funny and thoughtful. Enjoyed the cappachin monkeys as they seemed to be around a lot. The waterfalls were nice. Bummed there wasn't a snack or water offered. Have never been on a tour when it wasn't. The ziplines themselves were fun and by far the most impressive was the final one.
