We recently visited Monteverde at the end of January 2015 and stayed at the Monteverde Lodge & Gardens. We booked the Ecological Sanctuary Twilight Tour from the hotel for $25pp. Our guide, Donald, met us at the hotel lobby. We were the only ones who booked the tour that evening. Donald gave us each flashlights. He led us through the... More

My wife, son, and I took about a 2 hour private guided tour with Carlos through the Ecological Sanctuary located in close proximity to the Monteverde Lodge and Garden Hotel. We were able to see animals including raccoons, birds, and fireflies as the day transitioned into night. Carlos did a great job and worked very hard to show us the... More

My husband and I enjoyed our twilight tour at Finca Ecologica. We had a private tour set up by our lodge, Monteverde Lodge and Gardens, and Carlos Vazquez was our guide. Carlos was great - very personable, knowledgeable, and interested in what we most wanted to see. We discussed a number of issues (such as climate change and what it... More

My 13 year old daughter has always wanted to milk a cow, so why not let her try it in a foreign country. What a great experience it was! The farmers son Junior taught her how to milk the cow, and they fed baby calves. She loved it!!!

Lots of beautiful trails. Find the hummingbird tree, if you can. Lots of birds, insects and baramundi. Donations accepted instead of payment, which goes to help the refuge.
