If you haven't seen enough wildlife in Costa Rica, this is a great spot to get up close to the local frogs, snakes and turtles. We went in the afternoon when most of the exhibits were sleeping, but our entrance fee also allowed us to return at night. The staff are friendly and eager to tell you all about the... More

We chose to go with a guide (same price), and learned a lot about identifying snakes, how to tell if a snake is venomous, and learned about the types of snakes and reptiles in Costa Rica. Our guide Dennis was very knowledgable, and spent a lot of time with us. We even got to see some snakes and a snapping... More

Interesting, lots of snakes, frogs, several turtles and lizards, but lights are broken sometimes and you have to spend a long time to find the occupant of a cage. Also, cages are very small, and for some particularly large snakes it seems too cruel to keep them in there.

This place was much better than the reptile exhibit at the ziplining park - far more snakes to see, plus turtles, and more frogs as well. However, it's still viewing the animals in captivity - pales in comparison to seeing them in the wild like you can with guided nature hikes, although of course with those there are no guarantees!... If you want to see many of the local variety of snakes and some frogs (including venomous) and like getting close to see them - this is a very good stop for an hour or so. The place is not large, it is fairly expensive - so the best way to enjoy is to fully leverage what they have to... More

We went in our own as opposed to part of a pre-booked tour but opted for the guided tour and are so glad we did. Our guide - Denis - was brilliant, we would never have spotted all the snakes and frogs lurking in their terrariums and he provided comprehensive info on each of the species - I now have... More

beautiful snakes, turtles, frogs, great videos, very well arranged. guides available always, nice gift shop, the only problem was the introductory lecture was held in a small room with uncomfortable benches and the lecturer's English was very poor and I couldn't understand him. sorry

a really cool place to go to see all the things you hope you NEVER see in the wild on your own. The detailed explanation of these things is so helpful to learn so you know what to do should you come upon any of them.

Very good exhibit- I really wanted to see a fer de lance, and a bushmaster. We were there during the day, it was offered to us that we could come back later in the evening when the snakes were more active, which we didn't do. There was an exhibit with 2 different types of poison dart frogs- blue jeans, and... More

I have to start this by saying that I don't think there is any problem with the entrance fee to this place (or any of this type of place - frogs and orchids included - in Monteverde). You're not just paying to see some snakes, you're also supporting research and helping to protect some of these species from extinction. If... More
