Loved this family run tour when we visited in 2012. To be able to see, taste and touch the coffee, chocolate and sugar cane process was a real treat. Their property is beautiful and allowed for great photo ops. Highly recommend!

El Trapiche Coffe Tour was more than just listening to a tour guide, who indeed was incredibly knowledgable and good humored. On the tour you see the process of coffee, chocolate, and sugar cane. At each step, you become a part of the process and are able to taste a sample. At the end of the tour you can sip... More

El Trapiche tour was about Sugarcane, coffee and chocolate. Our guide was so interesting and knowledgeable making the tour so fun. We learned a lot and had hands on experiences. Molasses was being made while we were there and we made candy with some of it (with a lump to take with us). We had samples of the coffee after... More

My sister and I both LOVED this tour. We didn't really know what to expect, maybe just a little walk through a sugar plantation and some samples at the end. This tour is so much more! We learned a lot about Costa Rican culture. Tour times are at 10 and 2, if I'm remembering correctly, so plan your day accordingly.... More

My high expectations were exceeded--informative, funny, varied, hands-on. Walking through the farm and seeing / participating in production of cane sugar, chocolate, AND coffee for one price is astounding. We tasted everything and took home a chunk of self hand-made caramelized sugar. Door-to-door transportation. For Cost Rica, all for $32--an excellent value.

An interesting and informative tour by a bilingual (English-Spanish) guide. Our group was 10 people from ages 5 to 71 and all enjoyed it. The tour lasts about 2 hours and is quite thorough. We walked through a hilly coffee field and saw the process of coffee production from the bush to the cup. We saw sugar cane from the... More

After a morning hiking the cloud forest, we were looking for something a bit different. This tour was perfect. There are a few companies to choose from, but it am so pleased we went with El Trapiche. Our guide, Jorge, was charming - he provided us with a very informative, fun and engaging tour in perfect English. You get to... More

We loved our tour of El Trapiche! Our guide was so knowledgeable about the processes to make coffee, chocolate and sugar. He answered all of our questions as he showed us around the beautiful property. We got to see each part of each of the processes and we got to taste a lot throughout the tour. For us, this was... The tour was excellent. Jairo, our guide, was very knowledgeable and we got to see every part of the coffee, chocolate, and sugar cane processing. The tour has a lot of hands on aspects and you can taste the coffee beans, sugar cane, and cacao beans at different parts of the process. We also tried fresh bananas and sugar cane... More

When my wife said she wanted to do a tour of a coffee plantation, I was not thrilled. I quickly regretted my skepticism and was thrilled with our choice of El Tapiche. We learned about coffee, sugarcane, chocolate and the overall operations of a small family farm. We were able to taste sugarcane, chocolate, coffee and other dishes made for... More
