After a morning hiking the cloud forest, we were looking for something a bit different. This tour was perfect. There are a few companies to choose from, but it am so pleased we went with El Trapiche. Our guide, Jorge, was charming - he provided us with a very informative, fun and engaging tour in perfect English. You get to... More

We loved our tour of El Trapiche! Our guide was so knowledgeable about the processes to make coffee, chocolate and sugar. He answered all of our questions as he showed us around the beautiful property. We got to see each part of each of the processes and we got to taste a lot throughout the tour. For us, this was... The tour was excellent. Jairo, our guide, was very knowledgeable and we got to see every part of the coffee, chocolate, and sugar cane processing. The tour has a lot of hands on aspects and you can taste the coffee beans, sugar cane, and cacao beans at different parts of the process. We also tried fresh bananas and sugar cane... More

When my wife said she wanted to do a tour of a coffee plantation, I was not thrilled. I quickly regretted my skepticism and was thrilled with our choice of El Tapiche. We learned about coffee, sugarcane, chocolate and the overall operations of a small family farm. We were able to taste sugarcane, chocolate, coffee and other dishes made for... More

Very friendly staff. Our guide, Oscar was very nice and fun. I really liked this tour, you get to make some sugar, taste some sugar cane liquor and taste a regional meal. The coffee is delicioius!

i skipped the tours while here in march with my girlfriend, but once i was back in july with my parents $30/person seemed more reasonable. they teach you as much as possible in the 2.5 hours, and you'll never get a more interesting collection of free samples!

At first, we were not sure about this visit but the comments of others were true: it really worth it! The English guide we had is so funny and really has a talent to teach us many things while making it so fun! We laughed all the tour, learned very interesting facts about coffee, sugar and chocolate, tasted a lot... More

We really enjoyed all the info about coffee , chocolAte, and sugar. All the tastings felt like a culinary tour but was fun . Just bring a bottle of water so after the shot of sugar cane moon shine you have something to wash it down with.

We did so much on this tour. We hiked through sugar, coffee, and cacao plantations. We sampled raw sugar cane, cacao beans, coffee beans, coffee, moonshine made from the sugar cane, and brown sugar. We learned about the long process required to make chocolate and coffee on a family owned plantation in the beautiful Monteverde Cloud Forest. They even pick... More

This tour was totally worth it. Unlike other coffee tours, this one covers coffee, chocolate and sugar cane. In addition, we were told that this tour most often sees wildlife, and that was true for us. (We saw two sleeping sloths, and a mot-mot bird.) The tour was well-done and informative, and we came home with some sugar we had... More
