I spent 2 weeks volunteering for Sabine and I had a great time. Her horses are very well trained and beautiful. She takes great care of them and knows each of them like the back of her hand. She will make sure you get a horse that matches your level of experience. The guide, Alonzo, is very nice, always smiling... More

We were glad to find Sabine's smiling horses for the first time of horseback riding for our 3 kids. Sabine and her staff were very attentive for the kids and she took the time to choose the right horse for each kid (based on that it was their first time). She takes very good care of her horses. Even if... More

My first time at Sabine's Smiling Horses was in November 2014. I came with my sister and little nephew (4) seeking for a nature trail ride in Monteverde. Sabine took us on a great Sunday morning tour which was a wonderful ride to my sister and me and a safe and enjoyable one to my little nephew. After the beautiful... More

Sabine's took us on a unique horseback ride and a short hike to a waterfall. Sabine's takes very good care of their horses and it shows. The horses were well behaved and didn't seem overworked. Our guide, took us on a tour with spectacular views and was very friendly. This is a great activity for family or couples.

My friends and I visited Monteverde in late February of 2015. We had three nights to enjoy this beautiful mountain town and horseback riding at Smiling Horses was certainly the highlight of our stay. We had made our reservation ahead of time, and were very much looking forward to the tour. When we arrived at the stable the horses were... More

I had a wonderful time on the horseback riding trip. My horse was a bit lazy and a little stubborn, but we got along just fine. In the beginning of the tour we walked to a waterfall, which only Sabine has access to with her tours, then we rode past coffee plantations and beautiful views. There was a little stop... More

We joined a small group for the 3 hour waterfalls ride. Sabine was very friendly and knowledgeable and obviously loves her horses and is passionate about what she is doing. The horses were well looked after and behaved well without being like robots. Alonso the guide and Matilda who was volunteering there were good company and very friendly also. The... More

We were a group of 8 adults and everyone loved the horseback ridding with Sabine's Smilling Horses. Sabine is wonderful and very friendly and her horses are the most beautiful horses I've seen. Sabine's daughter and our guide were very knowledgeable about the area and many different kinds of plants and trees we saw on the way. We really enjoyed... More

We choose the waterfall tour and enjoyed it a lot ! Everything was ready when we arrived, and Sabine was very welcoming. Her ranch is isolated and quiet, it is a peaceful place. We took the ride with Alvaro, the guide, who was very nice. Despite we don't speak spanish, we managed to communicate with him. He showed us a... More

We had a 3 hour trail ride booked on a short notice (one day ahead) during low season. On our arrival, everything was prepared already: Sabine gave us a short but nonetheless thorough introduction to the "smiling horses" guidelines. For both, my riding experienced girlfriend and my rookie self, it seemed to really be about the creatures and nature in... More

You captured the experience we want to give to our riding guests very well. Costa Rican country site in its purest is only possible by horse with a local horseman. The Humming bird stop as a touristy addition is welcome to many of our guests and of course "Tico" our giant sweet old german Shepard. More
