Working with the Tropical Surf School is a great way to learn to surf. They provide the boards, vests, and instruction as part of the fee. They also provided us with fresh pineapple and cold bottled water during a break we took from surfing. I was there with a group of 18 teens taking a break from a week of... More

Terrible bad experience. They only care about your money and how they gonna make it nicely and easily. NL actual instruction and the time is stalled time after time so they work less and male more. Sneaklh, sleazy,

My two sons (11 and 15) and I were keen on surfing when we went to Costa Rica. We booked lessons through our hotel (La Mariposa) who signed us up with Tropical Surf School. Gilbert was our personal instructor This was the first time EVER for us surfing. This really is a FUN experience, and Tropical Surf School (and Gilbert)... More

This surf shop is the real thing, great employees, locally owned and very attentive. My son's teacher took pictures of him, because I didn't have a camera, and then he emailed them to us. Very courteous and laid back staff ready to make your surf experience very good!

I kind of lucked out because it was only me and my instructor Michael. We just hopped across the street to the quepos harbour and after a quick lesson on the sand bar we headed out to catch some waves. The was definitely more of an urban beach as opposed to the beautiful spots in Manuel Antonio so I would... More

My family of four had a great experience at the tropical surf school. Miguel was an excellent instructor and show us how to get on top of the board. By the end of the lesson I was able to get up once. My daughter was the pro. The team was very professional and prompt. Highly recommend them for a great... More

great lessons, but the ocean was a little rough. The instructors where very patient with our sixteen year old son. All and all it was a great experience but i did cut my foot on a piece of coral after getting pummeled by a huge wave.

My girlfriend and I selected Tropical Surf School based on other recommendations from Trip Advisor. This was her first trip to Costa Rica and her first experience surfing, so it was important to me that she had a good experience so that was motivated to return. :) We arranged for a private 1/2 day lesson via email and Freddy was... the location of this office is the best. On the corner in downtown Quepos. It makes renting a board and walking across the street to the ocean a breeze. I rented a board for a week from Tropical Surf and the family run business is a pleasure to work with. Fredy is very helpful and can advise you on which... More

My 5 year old daughter saw a barbie movie in which not only did Barbie surf, but she was also a mermaid. So when we went to Costa Rica she was absolutely set on surfing (and being a mermaid, but there was nothing we could do about that one). To my amazement, Gilbert and Nacho were able to get her...
