We spent our 2 week family vacation (family of four with 2 boys 11 and 13) in Costa Rica this summer, choosing to spend 4 nights in Manuel Antonio. We were flying in and out of Liberia, and were not sure about travelling south to Manuel Antonio as it was a long drive from our first destination of Arenal. However,... More

My family took a tour of the park with Henry and had a blast. The key to enjoying the park is to go to Costa Rica during the off season. We were there in July and it was perfect. Not too crowded. We didn't have to wait for anything. Henry took us through the park showing us fruit bats, spiders,... More

As many other reviewers have mentioned, having a guide take you through Manual Antonio is definitely the way to go. The walk from the park entrance to the beach really isn't long at all. If you were to go by yourself, you'd walk along a gravel road, maybe see a couple of animals if you were really looking, and then... More

Paul, our guide, picked us up exactly on time from our hotel. he was funny, interesting and spoke flawless English. The boat tour itself was relaxing, interesting and a great opportunity to see wildlife without working up a sweat. Paul pointed out many types of birds, snakes (including 2 black boa sightings), lizards, a crocodile. We also had an up... More

My wife and I almost toured the national park ourselves.....what a bad idea that would have been. This expedition tour group flagged us down when we were driving down to the park and told us it would be 35,000 colones (~ $60 or so) and I will admit I was skeptical at first, but it was worth every penny. Our... More

We had been to the Manuel Antonio area before but never to the Park. Our guide was Josue and he was excellent. We saw animals that we would never had seen on our own, heard stories about virtually ever plant we passed, and laughed at jokes that were based on what we were seeing. He even managed for us to... It's our first time in Costa Rica and Manuel Antonio Nat'l Park was our first thing to do in the country. We didn't know what to expect from a tour, and being inveterate DIY-ers, we were worried we might regret the choice to hire a guide. Turns out to be the best decision we could have made. Pablo (Paul) was... More

We truly enjoyed our tour of the Manuel Antonio park. Pablo was our guide and we would have never seen all the animals we did without his wonderful eye for these animals. We would be walking along and out of the blue he would spot something. We would look up and wonder what he could be seeing. He has a... More

Phenomenal tour! Really thought about walking the park without a guide. We now know that would have been a very - very bad decision. (You will find what the tour includes & suggestions on what to bring at the bottom of this review.) Pablo showed us from the quite small (spiders, bats & multi-colored / beautiful grasshoppers) to three species... More

We had a fabulous tour with Pablo of Manuel Antonio Park. He was so knowledgeable and great with our kids. Because he has previously lived in Toronto his English was impeccable. (We don't speak Spanish.) We were amazed that as we walked he would suddenly stop and point out an animal high in the tree that we NEVER would have... More
