When we drove up, the vanilla drying on the lawn smelled amazing. We really enjoyed the tour of how vanilla, cinnamon, pepper, allspice, cocoa, ginger and turmeric are grown. Very much enjoyed this tour. We were picked up at our hotel and driven along dirt roads to reach the plantation. There we learned about various spices and saw how they were dried (peppercorns, allspice, cinnamon, cocoa and of course vanilla). As a professional chef, it was interesting to actually see where the spices come from. more
