Pura Vida Gardens and Waterfalls is unique in Costa Rica. It is truly a "Visual Masterpiece". The gardens begin with the natural beauty of Costa Rica and four waterfalls in the property with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. To this millions of plants, flowers and orchids from all over the world have been added. Manicured walkways meander long a river and at the crest of the mountain which make the entire 50 acre gardens accessible to all. Have lunch in our restaurant and browse the gift shop that offers authentic Costa Rica gifts.

Great place to see Costa Rica from the mountain top

We loved our trek up to the Pura Vida Gardens. Although it's roughly a 5 km drive up a dirt road that's a little worse for wear, it's worth the drive up. It's so high up my ears... read more

There were promises of seeing wild animals, birds of all kinds, but in the 2 hour tour we were on, only saw 1 *ONE* bird, so don't waste your money. But if you go, go in the morning, for it rains almost every afternoon & then you'll see nothing more than just rain. The jungle is thick but, it's not... More

We loved our trek up to the Pura Vida Gardens. Although it's roughly a 5 km drive up a dirt road that's a little worse for wear, it's worth the drive up. It's so high up my ears popped. The ladies working there were incredibly nice. The walk to the falls is not a long walk, and the walk through... More

The gardens are beautiful and the day I was there, the scarlet macaws were showing off! While I had no problem walking the paths, they were too difficult (steep) for many of the older people who had been told this was an easy walk. I also enjoyed their gift shop with local crafts and the refreshments that were served. The... More

Visited here as part of a cruise ship excursion. Amazing to see plants (that back home need to be grown indoors) growing to full size out in the open. Anything and everything seems to be growing here. As well as the plant life there were many birds to see including hummingbirds, toucans and macaws. The waterfall wasn't particularly spectacular, however... More

During a cruise my husband and I booked a tour that included a stop at Pura Vida Gardens. We had a great time, the views were spectacular, the plants georgeous, and the birds were awesome. Our tour included lunch, which was delicious! I highly recommend visiting these gardens if you are traveling to Costa Rica. Beautiful, we'll run and the... More

We were part of Celebrity Cruise lines cruise from San Diego, through the Panama Canal, landing in Ft Lauderdale. Costa Rica was a port of call. Our excursion took us to Pura Vida Gardens/Waterfalls for our noon meal an tour of the gardens. The food was excellent. We particularly enjoyed the Tilapia, black beans and rice and the plantains. Also... More

My husband and I visited Puravida in March 2015. The temperature was well over 30 degrees and very humid. This is the dry season. We were met by the owner of this conservation rainforest and gardens, who welcomed us. Our tour guide made our walk very interesting indeed. Recommend suitable walking shoes, light clothing, insect repellant, sun cream, sun hat... More

The gardens are at the top of the mountain and as such offer fabulous views down the valley towards the coast and also from the adventure dining area over towards the waterfall. The gardens themselves have a wonderful diversity of plants, all beautifully maintained. In such a climate plants grow do quickly so it is a tribute to the small... More

This was an awesome place, off the beaten path, and great for birders. We saw more than 15 Macaw pairs, a Toucan and various other birds while we were there. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the food was very good. it was well worth the drive up the gravel road, you won't be sorry.
