We have just returned from our trip to Costa Rica and have thoroughly enjoyed all of our activities. We stayed at Laguna Lodge and had a brilliant guide, Fabian Guzman who made our stay an exceptional experience. He spotted dozens of different birds, spectacled caimans, a stick bird, an anteater, numerouse basilisks, lizards and iguanas. We saw plenty of monkeys... more

Wonderful spot, far from the maddening crowd, up beautiful waterways, full of wildlife, monkeys, birds etc. Would not recommend looking for the leatherback turtles here however;Gandoca is better for that. more

Hi -- We just returned from a very wet but wonderful trip to Costa Rica. We finished a brief stay at Pachina Lodge with a tour of Tortuguero National Park -- a series of interconnecting canals/rivers on the north east coast. Tortuguero National Park is located on a spit of land between the Tortuguero River and the Caribbean Sea. If you stay at Mawamba Lodge inside the park, you will be able to get to the water in either direction in two or three minutes! It's an awesome experience.
