This beach was one of the prettiest beaches I've ever been to! The water was crystal blue and the skyline was breathtaking. I only went into the water until I was waist-deep but it felt good nonetheless, not too cold. I spent as much time as I could there. Just an awesome, peaceful place.

I love the black sand. Living were our beaches have that bright white sand was a welcomed change to experience the beauty of the black sand and the tranquility it brought. I ran along the beach, lounged and enjoyed the waves. Watch out for rough surf and rip tides if the beach you are at does not have life guards.... More

The most interesting thing about the beach is the color of the sand. It is very black and when the water hits it, it is reflective. The waves are plentiful and you can walk quite a ways out into the ocean. This is not recommended if you are not a good swimmer and don't go out too far because the... More

Incredible body boarding and surfing waves, but you have to be very safety conscious to stay in line with the yellow flag. As the waves are so big you would need to be quite an experienced surfer to be safe. Despite this, they have a lot of people who help in a bad situation. There are also a variety of... More

There are beautiful beaches in area...Manzanillo, Puerta Uva, and Cahuita among my favorities. However, you can always count on the waves. Puerto Viejo Beach always has a quiet spot for slipping in and enjoying the ocean.

If you love surfing, now's the time to do it! The infamous Salsa Brava surf point was at 3-4 meters this past weekend!

Loved this town. Stayed at a boutique hotel a couple of blocks off the main drag. Good shopping and shops to pop in and out of. Great snacks on the street. Cheap local beer and nice friendly night life in the open air bars. This is the place you wish you could just disappear to; all you need is your... More
