One of the best experiences of my life!! Planned on this trip for so long and it didn't disappoint! Everything was great. The shared room we got with our friends was huge and well equipped. Breakfast was delicious and the staff was amazing. The tour of the facility was truly inspirational. I wish more people knew the plight of the... More

A bit pricey, but it goes to a good cause. They let us feed the sloths and get up close to many of them. The only thing that would have made it better would be if we could have gotten to hold some, but this was a highlight of our trip. Very educational!

We visited the sanctuary and have been very disappointed by the visit. During the visit no effort is made to give any factual information about the sloths. The animals are presented as teddy bears, humanised, treated like babies with their mummy being the carer. The first half of the 2 hour visit is spent on a river with not a... More

My daughter and I visited and stayed at the sanctuary. We paid extra and did the 'behind the scenes tour'. Our room was clean and cool (thanks to air-conditioning) and our breakfast and lunch were lovely. The tour was awesome. Our boat guide paddled us lazily along the river/stream on the sanctuary's property, pointing out flora and fauna as we... More

The Sloth Sanctuary Buttercup Tour is a must if you’re staying Puerto Viejo. This is the only sloth sanctuary in the world and the experience of seeing these amazing creatures up close is unforgettable. Our tour included seeing the resident adult sloths, the nursery and the babies doing their morning exercises. After a tour of the sanctuary, we took a... More

Personal attention, great guides, loads of information, direct interaction with these wonderful rescued sloths. What a wonderful experience. A must see adventure.

We caught a local bus from Puerto Veijo to the sanctuary thinking we might save money by not booking a tour deal. We have seen sloths in the trees in the national parks, so really just wanted to see them closeup. We paid $25 each at the Sanctuary, but took only the first part of the tour. It's the only... More

You will learn to love this curious, slow moving animal. The family escorts you through the sanctuary and you can actually pet them. You will learn so much about the sloth on the visit. You will also have a boat ride--not the best part of the tour.

I loved going to the sloth sanctuary and seeing the sloths. You do get to get pretty close to them. But I didn't get to touch one, I understand it is a sanctuary and they are wild animals but I was really interested in seeing what their hair (not fur) felt like. The guide we had was very knowledgeable and... More

I couldn't wait to visit the "Slothpital" (sloth hospital) as my friend who recommended it calls it. I never have a problem paying for admission to a non profit organization, and the price was very reasonable, and the tour was well worth it. The sloths are so adorable and wonderful animals. The knowledge of our tour guide Brian was impressive, There... More
