This was our first day out in Costa Rica, and we thoroughly enjoyed everything we saw. We saw a lot of birds, bats, monkeys and some sloths on the boat tour. I disagree with the reviews that say the tour wasn't educational; I know so much more about sloths than I did before visiting. I can understand, however, the criticisms... More

We visited the sloth sanctuary as an excursion from a cruise ship. Jeff, the founder's grandson, was our guide, and was very knowledgeable and informative, and clearly enjoyed his work. The sloths are fantastic, amazing stoned expressions, slow and deliberate, with incredible claws. You get really close, and they blink bemusedly at you. Brilliant. As part of the visit we... More

This was a cruise shore excursion and we loved it. The guide introduced us to a few of these wonderful animals that are being rehabilitated, before being returned to the wild. He informed us of the different varieties of sloths, their habits and lifestyles while gently holding one at a time. Each sloth hung their arms over his shoulders and... More

The Sloth sanctuary is well worth a visit, however if you can combine it with the pre centre rain forest walk and the boat trip then it is a must. On the walk I saw sloths in the wild, many birds, snails, spiders, plants, fruits and many other species of wildlife in a fabulous environment. It was truly worth seeing... More

We did the standard tour and enjoyed it. The sloths are so cute and the baby sloths are amazing. The boat tour was nice although the guide was not helping a lot to spot the wildlife.

I loved this place and learned so much. It is a world class research center for sloth. Wonderfully informative and must see. The tour is worth it, and if you want more the behind the scenes tour sounds much more in depth with access to great information (according to friends who did this).

This was, without a doubt, the high point of my trip to Costa Rica. I know other reviewers have complained about the high cost of the Insiders Tour, but I feel I got my money's worth out of the experience. The basic tour is fine, and perfectly enjoyable in terms of seeing adult sloths up close, in particular Buttercup. But... More

The sloth sanctuary was our primary reason for visiting Costa Rica and it did not disappoint. Seeing so many sloths and learning about them was the experience of a lifetime. Buttercup was riveting! The staff at the sanctuary were informative and clearly care about the animals. We also did a short canoe ride and saw bats, monkeys and lizards -... More

We took a Buttercup Tour in Aviarios del Caribe Sloth Sanctuary. At the beginning of our tour Guide shared his knowledges with us of the sloths about one hour. We saw so many sloths. There were some sloths babies too. Guide was excellent. The tour was very informative and interesting for us. The tour ended with relaxing boat trip on Estrella... More

At the age of 19 I decided to get on a plane by myself and travel to Costa Rica to work at aviarios sloth sanctuary. Anyone who knows me knows I live and breathe animals so I bet you can imagine the fun I had here. My review may be slightly different to the reviews of day trippers but may... More
