What a great place to go! I've learnt so much about sloths! Our guide shared many interesting facts about them and answered all of our questions thoroughly. For $15 you can get a relaxing canoe ride for around an hour and then you get to meet and spend another hour with the sloths. Our canoe driver was pointing out jungle... More

We got to see Buttercup, the grand dame of the sanctuary, along with many more adult sloths and baby sloths. We were close enough to touch them. They no longer let you hold them as sloths become tachycardic (rapid heart rate) when held by strangers, and we don't want to cause any medical stress to these beautiful creatures. I have... More

We stopped in cahuita specifically for this page and it did not disappoint! We got so close to a baby sloth named Spirit that she reached out and grabbed my phone! Buttercup is the oldest sloth and you get up close to meet her. The tour guides are crazy knowledgeable! Great experience!

This is the second time I have been and I enjoyed it just as much as the first time. You will see lots of sloths and learn more about them then you ever could know any other way. If you like sloths this is the place to be! I brought some friends and they had seen this place on TV... More

I stayed at the inn for two nights and did the Insider Tour. Every morning at 4:30, I awoke to the sound of a family of 8 howler monkeys that live in a tree on the property and a cacophony of birds. I'd head upstairs to the dining area and serve myself coffee, chilling with Buttercup in her basket chair... More

A great place to observe sloths and learn more about these incredible creatures. The nursery with the baby sloths was the highlight of the visit where we got to see them up close. I could have spent the entire day at the sanctuary which is also a great place just to relax and listen to the sounds of birds and... More

My wife did the sleep with the sloths option---I arrived the next morning for a tour and boat ride---Jeffrey is the grandson of the founder and was incredibly knowledgeable and fun to talk with. The boat ride with Kali was great as well.

This was our first day out in Costa Rica, and we thoroughly enjoyed everything we saw. We saw a lot of birds, bats, monkeys and some sloths on the boat tour. I disagree with the reviews that say the tour wasn't educational; I know so much more about sloths than I did before visiting. I can understand, however, the criticisms... More

We visited the sloth sanctuary as an excursion from a cruise ship. Jeff, the founder's grandson, was our guide, and was very knowledgeable and informative, and clearly enjoyed his work. The sloths are fantastic, amazing stoned expressions, slow and deliberate, with incredible claws. You get really close, and they blink bemusedly at you. Brilliant. As part of the visit we... More

This was a cruise shore excursion and we loved it. The guide introduced us to a few of these wonderful animals that are being rehabilitated, before being returned to the wild. He informed us of the different varieties of sloths, their habits and lifestyles while gently holding one at a time. Each sloth hung their arms over his shoulders and... More
