We did the buttercup tour and got up close to some resident sloths, learned their stories and all you'd want to know about sloths. We got to watch them for a bit and then went to the orphaned baby sloth area. One of the babies was awake and eating, he was adorable. We then went on a river tour, saw... More

We did the Insider's Tour, and loved it! My friend is crazy for sloths, and this was the main thing she was looking forward to this trip. I was not as crazy about them previously, but enjoyed it just as much! The tour guides were great, and told us interesting stories/facts, and it was great to meet the Vets and... More

As an animal lover I gutted to have contributed to the running of this sloth prison. I so wish I had read the reviews properly before going. Not only that, my friend and I paid $250 to do the insiders' tour and another $100 plus to stay the night. Sorry sloths. On arrival we were shown the sloth Buttercup who... More

Just watching sloths hang out is a wonderful experience. Which is a little crazy because they really don't do anything. But it's still a five star experience because sloths are just naturally awesome. Took the buttercup tour. Here goes... Boat ride. Some good photo ops but really not much going on when compared to other jungle cruises I took. I... More

Tours given in English and Spanish. I took the regular $30 tour. Very informative! The boat ride was nice beforehand, though didn't have a lot to do with sloths. Loved meeting the sloths and learning about them! Accessible by bike/bus from Cahuita/surrounding areas. They accept credit cards.

This is the most amazing place ever!! Made somewhat famous by the Animal Planet and YouTube series "Meet the Sloths", this sanctuary is also on the leading edge of research concerning these adorable creatures. This place was the main reason for our trip to Costa Rica. We spent the night at the "Buttercup Inn", an onsite B&B. We took the... More

We booked the $150 insider tour, and it was worth every penny. My 30 year old daughter has loved sloths for years, and this was the reason she wanted to visit Costa Rica. We started with a lovely breakfast with Buttercup, the star of the Sanctuary. She is such a beautiful sloth, and she is well loved. After our boat... More

I went to the sanctuary and did the insider's tour ($150 US). The first hour was paired with the regular group so you go to the nursery and get a whole lot of fantastic information (our guide, Marco, could not be stumped with any question. He had a wealth of knowledge and was fabulous). The regular tour pays around $30,... More

I was looking forward to visiting the sloth sanctuary ever since booking my trip to Costa Rica. Finally seeing it in person and meeting the wonderful people who help these animals was lovely! I did the $30(ish?) tour - we were not told it included a boat component. This boat part of the tour took one of the two hours... More
