Came here for the cocoa tour, were expecting a farm but were pleasantly surprised to have a small tour at a lodges small remaining plantation. Lovely process shown and treats throughout, all superbly tasty and a great, fun, knowledgable experience. Would recommend anyone visiting to try! Also visitors the trails over the bridge in the rain, I'm sure it might... More

We started out with a hike around the grounds observing wildlife to include poisonous dart frogs (gorgeous), green iguanas, a three toed sloth, multiple different toucans, other types of birds, butterflies, and beautiful flora! We then walked across the longest hanging bridge in Costa Rica, observing along the way more beautiful flora and fauna with the river running beneath. After... More

Took a half-day trip to Tirimbina with a guide from RutaVerde Tours, arranged by our hotel, Xandari Resort. The drive to Tirimbina from Alajuela was about two hours, and we passed by LaPaz Waterfall (took photos on the way back). The Chocolate Tour was informative, fun and delicious. To have the opportunity to taste freshly ground cacao and eat the... More

This was a nice walk, but we were a bit disappointed that we didn't see more wildlife. We looked closely but couldn't see much. The entrance fee seemed a bit high, but still nice to do in Costa Rica.

Well-maintained trails, a breathtakingly long suspension bridge over the Saripiquí River, and first-class birdwatching are just a few of the attractions at this Rainforest reserve. The Chocolate Tour is entertaining, informative, and delicious! Knowledgable guides will help you to see the details in this enchanted forest. A visit to Tirimbina will not just be a great experience for you; your... More

I went to Tirimbina as a field trip in my school for two days and I was impressed by the lovely nature and the variety of fauna and flora. In only 10 minutes we saw Costa Rica's most venomous snake and the biggest one! We went on a fascinating chocolate tour, on an amazing bridge in between the tropical forest,... More

This reserve is an innovative educational and research center devoted to the preservation of this endangered tropical forest ecosystem. We took a nature walk along the reserve's woodland trails. During the walk we crossed a 860-foot suspension bridge over the Rio Sarapiqui River. Midway across the bridge, the river flows around a natural island, where you can look for wildlife.... More

Dropped in to the reserve for a short walk and also to go on the "chocolate tour". They are very strict on footwear, no sandals or open toed shoes. I had Crocks on, but that was not allowed, so it was back to the bus for my hiking shoes. The walk is not that strenuous and is quite interesting, we... More

Went to Tirimbina Biological Reserve as part of a Collette Tour. We went in the evening for a fascinating presentation on bats and got to see three bats. They are quite cute up close and who knew there are so many different types of bats? Our guide was very knowledgeable.

Excellent place for seeing wildlife and learning about them. Please note that the Chocolate Tour is yummy, and the Bat Tour is more of a Bat Awareness Session, though you do get to see and touch the bats, and learn lots about them. The staff are really helpful and great fun.
