Enjoyed our stay at Tamarindo beach. The ocean was warn and the waves were killer. Plenty of activities and a few restaurants on the beach. If your into surfing its the spot to be. If not , well look out for the surfers as you swim ;) .Some drawbacks were the merchants walking up and down the beach hawking drinks... More

Excellent beach for surfing and chilling, but unfortunately merchants harass you by the minute, selling trash like flutes and jars. If you have dreadlocks or look rasta like, be prepared to get offered to buy drugs. Every 10 meters or so.

Tamarindo, Costa Rica has a beach popular with surfers. The town is more tourist oriented and more crowded than where we stayed near Coco. That being said, restaurants are plentiful and were reasonable for great food that is plentiful. The beach has white sand and the water is beautiful. There is plenty of shopping available, street vendors and supermarkets. The... More

This beach is great for families, couples, and learning to surf. If you aready know how to surf, don't bother getting a board in Tamarindo, go north to Avellanes or Grande. I was here 10 days and the waves were never more than waist high. Everytime someone on the street tried to rent me a board I just glared and... More

Tamarindo Beach is not one of the softest beaches that my family has been to but the sunsets are AMAZING !! Both Tamarindo Beach and Langosta Beach which run into one another have a lot of rock and sediment at the bottom which makes it hard on your feet (especially on children's feet). Make sure you carry watershoes (which my... More

Surfing is what puts tamarindo on the map, but much more. Great people, excellent hotels, great food, great country with lots of natural resources , good weather, and of course the surf make this a great place to visit, and maybe live one day. It's not cosmopolitan, but who want it to be? Totally chill, total paradise. Pura Vida! Gracias... More

Great spot for learning to surf. We were there and the waves were smaller but fun. Lots of people learning to surf and a little crowded but fun. Get in the water early, like 5 or 6 am, there are only a few locals out. Check out the Banana surf shop for a nice rental. $10. for the day.

Although I have heard that this beach was known for its stunning sunset views, I did not have the opportunity to enjoy one due to some sort of storm taking place over there, but it was still a great beach to relax on and enjoy. It does have some pretty big waves that are very relaxing to listen to, or... More
