this beach was nice, if you like to be near shops, etc. We were there during low season so easy to rent a chair and not be crowded. Sand not as pretty as some of the more private beaches and people come by selling things but the water and waves were great. Loved watching dogs playing in the surf.

Four of us decided to take up boogie boarding late in life and this was the perfect beach for this. Plus you get to watch the sunset from the water -- just beautiful. Not sure what the surfers thought of us but we noticed they stayed away. Great fun. Then go to the Diria outdoor bar for a mojitos from... More

This is a great stretch of beach. If you're looking for something deserted and romantic, probably look elsewhere. I was traveling solo, so it was a welcome thing for me to visit a beach with lots of other people on it. I visited with two different couples from Canada and took some spectacular photos. Come here around 5:30pm with your... More

Tamarindo was beautiful- this is the type of beach often used for screen savers. Pristine, warm sand, and vendors selling cold coconut water hiking up and down the beach often enough to keep you hydrated if you didn't come prepared for a day in the sun. They do charge you to sit in their pre-set recliners with umbrella, but the... More

A very easy beach to find, and a little crowded. If thats your thing, go for it- but you should visit it anyway. The beach has a small little town with lots of bars and this delicious pizza place.

We did 8 days in Costa Rica ... all was simply wonderful! Don't let the rainy season worry you ... it's beautiful in low season .... a little rain, but that's ok! We did a few days at the Four Season's in Papagayo ...loved it, very remote, and jungle beautiful ... and the 3 days in Tamarindo were awesome ...... More

If you are looking for a low key surfing each, this location is hard to beat (and I'm sure every surfer would probably push the score to a 5). It's a great beach, no question, and the community is a joy. We enjoyed the beach but it is starting to get more commercialized with vendors pushing trinkets and considerably more... More

Playa Tamarindo is a beautiful and interesting beach. The sun sets early (usually somewhere around 5:30pm ~ 6:00pm). Even during the rainy season you have a good opportunity of viewing one of the intriguing sunsets. I don't really experience any negative happenings, however, some travelers may not enjoy the unleashed dogs (mostly well-behaved) and the pottery, cigar and whistle vendors.... More

We really enjoyed our afternoon and evening at the beach. While it is busy, it's a great place to surf, play football, lounge and to enjoy that gorgeous sunset! The beach was very long and shallow so it's perfect for strolling along and taking in the sights. There are a lot of semi-wild dogs roaming free that kind of breaks... More
