Tamarindo is definitely a surf town. We stayed at an AirBnb about 5 minute walk from the beach. The beach itself was nice. We went during low season in May and it was not crowded. On the beach, there are plenty of hawkers but a "no thank you" will send them on their way. Everyone here is happy to take... More

Could be that it was the beginning of the off season, but this beach was never crowded which was a huge plus. You can rent chairs and umbrellas for about 6 bucks. The water is great and clean and the beach is expansive. If you like to surf or even want to learn you won't find better waves than here.... More

Beautiful and easy to walk and play in. Gorgeous sunsets, so many nice shells to look at and good boogie boarding and surfing.

My wife, 19 year old daughter, and I traveled to Costa Rica in late April, first week of May this year for our third trip there. This time we were to meet up with friends who had gone ahead on business. The first two days we stayed in Tamarindo at the Diria Resort right on the beach before moving on... More

Huge beach, soft sand. Stayed toward the south end of the beach, good boogie boarding, Not a snorkeling beach, more surfing oriented. Great walking beach, glorious sunsets. I'd go back for sure!

Good spot for first time surfers - it was our first time. The waves were about 4feet high but we were all able to get up at least once - even though it was only for seconds:) The beach is in good condition and the town is really cute.

Very beautiful beach. Not too busy, not too quiet but unfortunately I have to say, don't leave your items unattended. That goes for anywhere in town as well. Professional thieves will take your purse in the blink of an eye. Other than that experience, would definitely go back any day! :)

Rated this last year and sticking by my previous review, I love it. Long stretch of beach to walk when tide is out. Beautiful sunsets that you need to see from one of the many beachfront restaurants. A little piece of paradise!
