Great beach for surfing and such. Just have to be careful to watch your things while swimming/surfing. Also, watch out for some of the locals (not everyone but a few bad eggs) some people will just take your money if you let them. Be aware of people who are offering extra services, wanting cash upfront or any other obvious scams.... More

Great beach, excellent waves, good place to learn how to surf. Many surfs schools and kids of all ages learning to surf. There are chairs on the beach that you can rent. $12 for a whole day, one of the best values in town.

Fantastic beach town for tourists, people are ALWAYS friendly, thank you for visiting, have a friend that has a B&B nearby and stayed w/him. Food in varied, I love Costa Rican culture and food, not MEXICAN, it is a COSTA RICAN delight, plenty fruit and vegetables indigenous to the area. Seafood was not too varied or plentiful, which surprised me.... More

I was here at the end of June, beginning of July. We spent a week in Tamarindo and half of those days were spent at Tamarindo Beach as it was within walking distance of our condos (Las Mareas). This is a nice beach. It's very big even with the tide in and it was never crowded. It's a mix of... More

I am not a big swimmer so the waves were a little too big for me, but the water was cool and refreshing and there were many cool spots just to sit and watch, have a bite or drink.

Great surf break and not ridiculously crowded. Yeah, the bird whistle selling and clay pots get a bit annoying, but nothing to ruin a vacation.

I stayed at Witch's Rock Surf Camp and much of my surfing took place on this beach. It is very clean, great waves, and overall the people are nice. In can get crowded at times but if you can get out and surf early in the morning that is probably the best time.

The beach is gorgeous. Locals come up to you and offer cold drinks, crafts & freshly cut papaya for sale. They are pleasant people and do not harass you. The main street is lined with shops & restaurants that are fun to see.

I found Tamarindo to be more touristy than other surrounding beaches, which is good if you like that; I particularly like the more Tico feel of other beaches with more reasonable prices in restaurants and shops. That being said, the shops have a lot of variety of a lot of nice looking things/gifts/souvenirs and the restaurants I tried had very... More

Tamarindo Beach is great for walking and enjoying the water. The water remains shallow which allows even non-swimmers a chance to enjoy the waves. On the beach you will see families, couples, people sunning themselves to aspiring surfers, to fisherman in the morning. Sunsets on the beach are fabulous and there are many beachfront restaurants to enjoy as well. Tamarindo... More
