It was almost 30 years since I rode a horse and the owner (Santiago) took his time explaining everything I needed to know, He put me on the perfect horse too (Pony boy). The trail ride thru the back roads of Costa Rica brought us up close to the local villagers who all were very friendly . We also stopped... More

This was the best riding experience I have had outside of riding my own horse. The ride through the country side and a small town was a great way to really experience some local culture. We stopped for lunch at a local restaurant and had the most amazing fried chicken and plantains. Then Kay brought out a birthday cake to... More

This beautiful ride, which began on a road through the forest and ended on the beach, was one of the highlights of my vacation. Kay was very easy to communicate with -- answered emails promptly, gave me good advice about the level of skill required, and even took me back to my B&B when it was over. My horse was... More

My sister and me spent a week on Estebán´s and Kay´s ranch during a three months trip through Central America. To describe this week as one of the best of our lives does not feel like an exaggeration but sums up the experience we had there very well. Kay and Estebán own a beautiful and very well mantained ranch with... More

My husband and I have been on horses very little prior to booking this tour, but I really wanted to see the country side rather than only stay at our beach resort. Kay made the suggestion for their Taste of Guanacaste tour and we booked a private tour. Kay made sure we were on the right horses for our riding... More

Pura Vida. It is a good life in Costa Rica and we are fortunate to share our special piece of paradise with our riding friends. This was a particularly exciting time, watching Costa Rica participate in the World Cup. Glad you enjoyed your ride and Tico experience. More

We did two rides with Casagua (also known as Painted Pony) last week. First was a beach ride and second was a ride that gave us a real taste of Costa Rica. It took us through pastures and by the small houses where the friendly Costa Rican families (who don't have much) would wave and say hello as we passed.... More

The two rides you selected are some of our favorites. You get a real feeling for the Guanacaste countryside and culture, as well as enjoying riding on the beach. When the tides are right and we riders can experience a spectacular Pacific sunset. Priceless. We do both day rides for people staying at local hotels, have a B&B, or a... More

This was my favorite activity from my week of vacation. As an experienced rider it is sometimes difficult to find a good equestrian tour with quality, well cared for horses. My horse was a great fit for my level, Kay was kind enough to set up a private tour for me with just a few days notice, and the countryside... More

We think our horses are an excellent reflection of the noble horses of Costa Rica. Unfortunately, few experienced riders get to experience quality horses on tours. We appreciate your comments and are happy that you we able to ride with us. More

My family of four had never been on horses prior to this tour. Kay and Esteban were very patient and great teachers. Our horses were calm and the tour was great. The chicken lunch was so (finger lickin') good! Kay also offered information about local eateries and beaches. Can't say enough about how much fun we had.

Thanks, by having small group rides, we can give novice riders special attention that we hope makes their riding a positive experience. We know so many people that are afraid of horses and riding because they had a bad experience. We are happy you enjoyed your ride and hope you keep riding. More

We are a family of four with just a casual level of experience in horseback riding. Kay and Esteban were tremendous throughout our whole visit - starting from introducing us to our horses and explaining the options for our tour. We rode through a local ranch area and covered ground we never would have seen and experienced otherwise. Kay is... More

We really enjoy family rides and sharing some of our beautiful countryside and village life. Of course the Fried Chicken, offered as part of our Taste of Guanacaste Tour is a hit. We have been visiting Chilito and his wife Dona Chica (the chicken master) for over 15 years. We are honored to be a highlight of your visit. Hope... More

Its everything we expected after reading several reviews before we booked. The Ranch is very well kept - the horses were all tacked up and waiting for us upon arrival - and we were on our way to a wonderful sunset ride with minimum of fuss! Most importent to us was the fact that the horses were in very good... More

Riding in the tropics can be very different both for the beginner and experienced rider, especially at the end of the dry season when temperatures can limit the time in the saddle. In March and April we like to schedule rides either early or later in the day. When the tides are low late afternoon, we like to schedule a... More
