I was very disappointed with this school. I booked 2 weeks of study for myself and my girlfriend in Nov 2015 and paid in advance, big mistake. When went the day before class and were told to come back to school on Monday at 7 AM. On that day we sat around for 1 1/2 hours and they seemed to... More

I spent 4 weeks doing this course. It was a great way to immerse into Spanish and keep good learning habits after leaving. The classes were very small 2-5 students to one teacher. The teachers were great and interspersed fun and games into learning as well as a "field trip". Many students have become life-long friends. I would recommend it.

We live in Tamarindo in the summers and immerse our children in Spanish every summer. The staff at WAYRA has always been very professional. The lessons are very well organized and specific to what the student needs to learn. We were not pleased with ISLS because they charged $500/week and the entire time our children were in classes with 8-10... More

I spent only two weeks at WAYRA, but I learned a ton and had a bunch of fun. I attended four hours of morning classes and one hour of private lessons for medical Spanish each afternoon. Class sizes are small — I had three peers the first week and only one the second — and the curriculum is geared entirely... More

I wanted to gain as much Spanish as I could in a short time period. This school is not geared for a bit of conversational learning so it was more intensive then I expected. (Not a bad thing-just be prepared!) Because the classrooms are open air you are surrounded by greenery and fauna (think howler monkeys, birds, and bugs) and it... More

WAYRA is located about 4 blocks from the main street of Tamarindo, so it is very easy to get to. Lodging is available with host families and at the school, but if you really want to learn Spanish, you want to live with a host family. The families that host students for WAYRA are great and take much care to... More

I sent my son, just barely 15, to Wayra to study for two weeks. He was well taken care of and learned a lot. Terrific experience for him.

I spent 1 week at WAYRA this past May and overall enjoyed my experience, although I do have a few comments in ways I hope the school and environment can improve. When I was originally choosing between schools there were a few factors that I wish I had read in reviews, so I'm going to break it down in the... More

After studying at WAYRA in 2005 I decided to go back to Tamarindo to brush up my Spanish and I can say that I had again a great time there and was able to improve my Spanish quickly. This time I decided to stay in a student house where I was able to live together with other students. I can... More

My kids spent at week at WAYRA in a private 4-hour morning class. While a week is by no means long enough to really learn much, they still had a very positive experience. They learned a lot of vocabulary and had fun. At the end of the week, my daughter said she wanted to come back again. The kids teacher,... More
