My kids spent at week at WAYRA in a private 4-hour morning class. While a week is by no means long enough to really learn much, they still had a very positive experience. They learned a lot of vocabulary and had fun. At the end of the week, my daughter said she wanted to come back again. The kids teacher,... More

I was fortunate enough to take two weeks of classes here. The teachers were great. They used fun games and lessons to teach us Spanish. The classrooms were awesome, even in the heat of the summer, it was cool being semi-outdoors. The staff also was great at helping me book my weekend travel adventures.

This school is fantastic in many ways.. The staff, location... I really did enjoy it.. However I stayed at La Carolina which is connected to the school and the bones of the house were great.. But ants in the kitchen were no soo great.

Following is an exchange with a representative of the Wayra Institute in Tamarindo following an outbreak of Dengue Fever among the students. I am writing to you rather than posting something on Trip Advisor at this time. As you might recall my wife and I spent a week at Wayra Institute in semi-private lessons several weeks ago. Our experience with... More

I have mixed reviews about my 3 week stay at WAYRA. I had a wonderful first week with my professor and learned a lot of Spanish, specifically tailored towards what interested the class most. However, my second week was much slower, with a different teacher, and we learned very little new material. I complained to the school that I wasn't... More

I spent six weeks at WAYRA Tamarindo and didn't regret it once. I had a very nice time and learned a lot. I chose the school mainly because it seemed fitting in with Costa Rica. It looked like I imagined a school to be, open, green, lot of nature... And it was better then expected. I felt within nature and... More

Pleasant and beneficial experience! I am currently a student at Wayra and arrived nine days ago. My experience has been very pleasant and beneficial. The staff is extremely friendly, knowledgable and helpful. Professors challenge students in a friendly manor, but are not hesitant to recommend repeating a class level or moving people from one level to the next if they... More

I attended Wayra for two weeks. I had taken one year in Spanish before in high school about 10 years ago. The classrooms are in open air beautiful gardens with about 5 or 6 students a class. They are taught pretty much all in Spanish so you are fully immersed in the lessons. At first it was a little overwhelming... More

I signed up for two weeks intensive Spanish language course in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. I didn't know what to expect and was nicely surprised by the quality of teaching and the stunning beauty of this place. There are open air classrooms in a lush tropical garden. I stayed in the school grounds, some 200 meters from the beach. The owners... More

I just finished a 2-week intensive language course, including conversation lessons for an additional two hours per day. I thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the experience. The accommodations (I stayed at Casa Wayra) were clean and comfortable, easily accessible to beach, services, restaurants, grocery, etc. The food on campus (bkfst is included and lunch is only $5) is really good....
