Ultralight TourYour Best Tour EverDeparture LocationsSamaraDeparting from our private runway at the Hotel Flying Crocodile and then flying over miles of beautiful mangroves, you'll first head to one of the most beautiful beaches in Guanacaste called Playa Barigona. Next, you'll head inland to the River Buena Vista on the lookout for sunbathing crocodiles along the river. The next leg of your flight takes you to the beaches of Samara and Carillo where you just may get a soaring eagles' perspective of mantas, sharks, big schools of fish and sea turtles. From Carillo you'll overfly the Isla Chora on the way to Playa Buena Vista were you'll experience the sensation of flying just over breaking waves and feel you're surfing in mid-air! Return to the Flying Crocodile Hotel while enjoying a beautiful view of the rain forests and mangroves. In the time from December to March you can often see whales playing near the shore. What to bring? You'll need a video or photo camera that you can secure at your wrist, also good idea to bring sunglasses.

This was such a great experience! Highly recommended as a definite must do in Costa Rica...The Samara tour definitely gives you an opportunity to see crocodiles and turtles. I would love to do this again in the different areas of Costa Rica.

We've spent over 3 weeks in Costa Rica and finally we have to say that the flight with flying crocodile was one of the greatest experience we made. If you like to fly... i mean to have a real feeling of flying...you have to do it!!!!...Jörg is a very nice pilot and showed us beside the landscape a lot of... More

Fantastic flight from Tamarindo to Playa Azul! Guido will tailor your flight to your wishes. My girl friend and I wanted to fly over our homes. Guido would point out other landmarks along the flight. The hour literally flew by! Already planning another flight next year.

We booked our first flight just to get from tamarindo to nosar a. So smart to pack light. Our pilot Jorge said the pack has to fit on your lap. The hot sun makes laundry easy to dry. Our second flight from the hotel flying crocodile we left our bags and got to enjoy. Taking off in the morning for... More

When you are in Costa Rica on the pacific side make sure you don't miss this flying adventure. The flight is breathtaking, flying over the shoreline and rivers, up high and even a few feet above the waves, searching for crocodiles in the river or even get lucky like we did by spotting a whale with a young calf and... This is an utter no brainer, you will see the Samara coast like you could not believe. Call in advance to make sure you can get a suitable time as the pilots are very busy, understandably.

Check "co-piloting a gyrocopter over Costa Rican surf" off your bucketlist and go do this! This is like riding a motorcycle in mutiple dimensions. It's remarkably stable even when the Joerg, the pilot put the ultra light in hover and glider modes. It is absolutely the best way to see the coastline. Joerg has been flying gyrocopters for 14 years... More

I purchased this for my wife's birthday present while visiting Samara. She said it was one of the coolest, if not the coolest, thing she has ever done. We are amazed that there are not more reviews for this activity--could be that they are not advertising enough. The pilot asked were we were staying and he took my wife 40... More

This is a must for travelers to Samara Costa Rica. The gyro copter is an excellent flying machine invented back in 1928, simple safe and flies at 2000 feet the pilot in the driver front seat and the lone passenger just behind him, in an open convertible plane, but with a helmet on your head and a microphone to listen...
