During one of the tours from Costa Rica Guides, we stopped at the Doka Coffee Estate for Breakfast and a tour of the estate. We left the bus and entered through the gates of the estate through a floral avenue to an open shed where the buffet breakfast was served. Best move on to the tour as the food was... More

My tour was arranged through the Waterfall Peace Lodge. Our guide was John. The plantation itself is beautiful - the buildings, the landscaping, all of it. We live in wine country and have been on a million tours learning how wine is made so my husband and I thought I would be pretty bored - we did this tour for... More

On our way up to the Poas Volcano we stopped for a cup of coffee. I thought I was In Starbucks in NYC.... I paid $8.00 for a small cup of coffee and 2 very small pastries/Empanadas. Ask the price before you buy as prices are not posted for these items. The Coffee bags are also a bit over priced... More

We paid for one of those combo tours where the Doka Coffee Tour was one third of the day. Our guide's name was Max and there were about 12 of us in the small Tourismo bus. We are oldsters and veteran coffee drinkers. The Costa Rican coffee tastings were smooth, delightful, deeply robust, without acid, and memorable. We learned more... More

My wife and I enjoyed the nice park and the coffee tour. They have a butterfly pavilion, bonsai garden and a coffee museum. Our guide Ronaldo was exceptional. This young man was very energetic, animated and knowledgeable. His English was exceptionally clear and it was a pleasure to be guided by someone so interesting and pleasant. Be sure to seek... More

This was a quick trip through the process of growing a coffee tree and picking, shelling, fermenting and drying the beans. If you know nothing about coffee, you might find it interesting. The tasting was a sub-standard experience of over-extracted and weak coffee. The lunch was a blah assortment of the tico thing: rice, beans and pork/chicken but not worth... More

Doka Coffee Estate is a good sidetrip if you're enroute to Poas Volcano, but hardly worth a special trip from San Jose. You can stroll through the field of coffee trees. There Is an interesting explanation of how coffee is grown then the tour takes you through the process from grading to drying to roasting to tasting. The souvenir shops... More

Knowing nothing about how coffee is grown, picked, and processed, we found the tour to be very interesting. It's not a lengthy tour, but our guide was knowledgeable and engaging. It made for a relaxing afternoon prior to our departure the next morning.

This tour was great. I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but the tour was very interesting. You learn all about the coffee process and even get to taste some coffee at the end. The gift shop is inexpensive. It's better to buy the coffee there than from a gift shop elsewhere. Our tour guide's name was Adrienne (I think) and... More
