We enjoyed our visit to Doka. It was very informative. The plant is operated by water power. The coffee is rich and very smooth, low acid. Usually I want half and half with coffee, but not theirs, black is perfect. There is a tour that explains how the coffee is picked to finished product. There is also a restaurant, bonsai... More

We didn't know what to expect. Coffee has a great history in Costa Rica and the process hasn't changed that much over time. You learn about how coffee is grown and then how it is processed into the beans. Tour is very informative and you are constantly amazed at how little technology has crept into the process. Coffee is hand... More

Kate & I first got Doka @ SJO on the way home. Then we moved here and did the tour after a visit to Poas volcano. Our tour guide was very informative and entertaining. This is the best coffee in Costa Rica (sorry Britt) and a good value for purchase @ their estate store. You cannot buy it in stores... More

Just perfectly maintained estate which appears well manicured and very conscious of its image and visitor education. Started with plant growth from Arabica bean to transplantable pot plant, then onto the harvest which takes places over 3 months and requires 5 passes to accommodate degrees of ripeness. Then on to bean separation, removal of pod and slime, followed by drying... More

Did this activity on a Poas volcano tour. The guide showed us all the steps of the coffee production. Of course, you can also taste some throughout your visit. If you're on a tour, you will most likely have a lunch there, which was also great (buffet style). You can also take a look a the bonzai and butterfly garden.

This was my first visit to a coffee plantation. I love my coffee, so I really enjoyed it. We learned all about the coffee process and got to sample their wonderful coffees. Lunch was good, typical Costa Rican lunch with rice and beans. They also have an amazing butterfly garden where we saw many different species. The young man who... More

We have been on the Doka Coffee Tour on several occasions when people have visited us and each time we have been pleased. The tour itself moves you through the various stages of coffee from the seed to your cup and because the guides are different you get a slightly different perspective with each one. We have done tour during... More

We've all been on winery tours. It gets old. This was my first coffee tour that I can remember. Good information from the guide at this 3rd generation family owned coffee place. I was very surprised to see coffee beans out on a patio, spread out and being raked by a worker to dry them. One would think there would... More
