You can get as much or as little you want out of your tour. Our guide was great at answering questions and providing smaller details. The coffee plantation was in the off-season, so there was less bustle. Of course, what we loved the most was the taste testing.

So as a tourist, I did the Britt Cafe tour, & it was cute, but Doka is a real coffee tour, they grow the beans, harvest on site. Britt has the commercialization, but I left Britt feeling a little cheated. To be sure, this is a slightly farther drive, but sooooo worth it. The scenery is breathtaking!!!! I am (was)... More

Wonderful experience! Third generation family run coffee plantation, very detailed tour that take you through the entire process of growing coffee, from seed to shelf. Beautiful grounds and lunch is included and was delicious. No tour is complete without a visit to the souvenir shop! They have a wide variety of Costa Rican items especially their wood crafts. They also... More

What a beautiful drive up to the Doka Coffee Plantation. We were greeted by a most beautiful garden with a variety of flowers that rivals a Botanical Garden. We then started the tour and found out that the flowers and fruit are there to offer a "buffet" to the birds and bugs so that they won't bother the coffee. Our... More

My family took this tour last week and we very much enjoyed learning their process of making coffee. Our tour guide Omar was extremely knowledgeable and explained the whole process extremely well. It was fascinating to see this company still using equipment that they used when they first started 3 generations ago. Even more, it was incredible to see how... More

I was in Costa Rica on a 38 night cruise from LA on the Norwegian Star, and this was going to be one of the highlights as far as I was concerned. I had booked a Shore Excursion from the ship as I couldn't find another option online and really didn't want to miss going to the Doka Estate as... More

This was a perfect introduction to the entire coffee process soup to nuts (or in this case bush to bag) at a very beautiful estate. The tour is just the right amount of time, you learn a lot and the tastings at the end made me a true believer. I generally like Central American beans and brought back 6 lbs... More

First stop on a day tour to Doka, Poas and La Paz Waterfall. Arrived for wholesome buffet breakfast and tour of the original well-maintained factory. Chance for hands on "coffee raking" and observation of coffee roasting. Lovely plantings and landscaping.

Learned so much about how coffee is produced, so much work! We loved the tour and it was pretty quite the day we went so we had the whole place to ourselves. We've continued to have the coffee delivered to our home in Chicago since we returned - which helps us re-live our vacation every morning. Highly recommend a detour... More

I enjoyed the birding while my daughter learned about coffee. It was just the two of us so we got personal attention. He even let my daughter strap the basket on and do a little picking of the coffee beans. The he made coffee the old fashioned way. My daughter had to have one of those set ups before we... More
