We used Expediciones Tropicales for out tour and we loved it! We had a lovely breakfast and our guide walked us through the whole process. We heard from a few people at our hotel that they had gone to Britt and that it was not good at all. Highly recommend DOKA and Expediciones Tropicales !

Tour was short. Didn't get to see much of the coffee grove. There was a silly 5-10 min movie they sat us down to watch then we saw some of the ancient equipment they used. In short we did not actually see them make any coffee. Lunch was provided and it was typico but not worth what you pay. It... More

This was our first stop in the morning, and how appropriate. Very nice and peaceful here, and our guide showed us how coffee is grown, the history and all the equipment. If you are interested in coffee this is a great way to spend an hour in the morning, learning and sampling the coffee to wake you up. :-)

Even though we have visited coffee estates before we took this tour because 1 in our group had not done this before. I'm glad we did because their process is unique. It was very interesting to see how they used water for their process. They also dry the beans outside on large patios. If you get the opportunity to visit... More

This was the first stop on a tour my husband and I took. We had a wonderful traditional Costa Rican breakfast before the tour of the plantation. Bring money because you can stock up on coffee in the souvenir shop. The landscape is breathtaking

I found the tour very disappointing. The tour should have taken five minutes, but the guide tried to stretch it out. The family apparently owns 30,000 acres but only about a half an acre was at this location. The guide showed me some seedlings, some 2' plants, a drawing of a bean in its shell and some machinery. And as... More

We, a family of three, had booked this tour for $ 22 per person. We had first tried to contact Doka through their website, but they never responded so we eventually had to phone them. We had booked the tour for 9 AM, and when we arrived at 8:55, the tour had already started even though they knew we were... More

You can get as much or as little you want out of your tour. Our guide was great at answering questions and providing smaller details. The coffee plantation was in the off-season, so there was less bustle. Of course, what we loved the most was the taste testing.

So as a tourist, I did the Britt Cafe tour, & it was cute, but Doka is a real coffee tour, they grow the beans, harvest on site. Britt has the commercialization, but I left Britt feeling a little cheated. To be sure, this is a slightly farther drive, but sooooo worth it. The scenery is breathtaking!!!! I am (was)... More
