We rode horses up tot he entrance of the waterfall park. The stairs can be a bit rough, but well worth the climb down and back up- what a beautiful waterfall! More

1/2 of our party took a horse ride here that they booked on the main street of La Fortuna, and the other 1/2 just took a cab to the front gate and walked to the falls. It was a climb, but doable walk. The horse ride was fun too if you like that. Bring your camera. It is stunning. More

The hike down to the falls is completely worth it. You can swim near the falls and walk around behind them. The $10 entry (no guide) and 500 or so stair descent is worth the experience. We had a nice walk to the waterfall and enjoyed swimming in the frigid water! We just drove there so it was a quick visit - it might be more fun to do the horseback riding or something else to make more of a day of it. More

Thehike was pretty strenuous and I wouldn't recommend if you can't handle a lot of stairs. The hike was well worth it. You don't need a guide - in my opinion, but they might give you some history or point out animals. The water was COLD. It felt like something out of a movie. Great time! More
