Very glad I did this tour. The guide, who used to live in upstate New York, really gave it his all to find as many hidden things as possible - frogs, snakes, etc... Would have loved to do the bird watching tour in the mornings with him but time did not permit.

We made advance arrangements for a private photographic session to photograph frogs, lizards, a tarantula and several other local species. Our guide was knowledgeable and helpful in setting up the displays and explaining animal behavior. We also had wonderful breakfast here.

This was $40 each the guide moved way to fast. It was about 45 minute tour. The only plus was it is one of the only activities that is open after 5pm. This country shuts down early. The guides light was 3 times stronger than the one you get. If they have an extra one grab it. Many lights were... More

We were so lucky as we were the only people on the night walk. Our guide was so dedicated and informative that we were all totally captivated by this lovely place. I can not praise the guide (sorry I can not remember your name) enough. He even showed my how to use my camera correctly to take a picture of... More

This is a small family run nature preserve in a forest setting. It is worthwhile to hike the circular trail several times to see the birds that inhabit the various levels of vegetation. Any questions about what you have seen are readily answered at the reception desk. Night walks are offered.

My daughter and I took the Frog Watching night walk here - just a 20-30 minute walk from where we were staying at Hotel la Pradera. There were a lot of people and so we were divided into groups. Our group had approx 10 people and I found this a bit big as we always had long to wait to... More

It'a a 2-hour tour in the tropical forest where you'll be with a guide and you'll have a flashlight to look for insects. Probably one of the best attractions in Costa Rica but really expensive. We found the excursion in a guidebook of 2013, the fee mentioned was 20$ per person, the fee is now 40$! There's no limit to... More

Love the wild pig (not a relative of the regular pig, to my surprise). He is a nasty cookie and my video has elicited much laughter - he is quite suspicious of people.

Night hike with flashlights and a guide through the thick of a natural preserve. Got to see so many frogs, geckos, snakes, spiders, fresh water crabs and bats living in a termite nest!!! Jason our guide was determined to find as much as he could to make our hike interesting and fun! Would HIGHLY recommend this adventure when in La... More

I don't want to give any spoilers on what you may see.... each night walk will be different as the animals and insects are not waiting for you in cages. We went as a group of 6 (with an 8 and 11 year old) and we had our wonderful guide, Gerald, all to ourselves. Gerald was fantastic. He was so... More
