We searched for a day before we found the entrance to the park to get to the Rio Celeste waterfall. My advice: Just head towards the Rio Celeste Hideaway (I think that's what the hotel close by is called). It is a very long and bumpy drive though, so beware. From there, you'll be able to find signs to the... More

Walking in the rain forest is feels very life affirming. There is a spot for a meal at one of the parking lots.

The roads to get to Rio Celeste are extremely difficult to navigate. If you have GPS, take the time it says you will arrive and double it. Unfortunately, becuase of the horrendous conditions of the roads, we got there too late to do the hike. We were still able to see the river and its colour from the bridge that... More

I've never seen water so blue! This area definitely looks like a screen saver. The hike involved is not for those not not accustomed to exercising, LOL. The drive is a long one from La fortuna, most of it on a very bumpy road.

We were hooked on this hike as soon as we came across it here on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed; it was beautiful, serene and well worth the drive and hike. Some info: I would definitely suggest driving yourself, don't pay a tour guide... HOWEVER - fair warning, the roads to get to the park where this exists are... More

The Rio Celeste hike was on our to do list as soon as my wife and son saw a photo of the waterfall online. When we booked our trip we made sure one of the days took us there. The photo they had seen did not do it justice. The hike is a moderate one...parts of it were pretty challenging... More

First of all, if you have your own car, use it, and don't book a way to expensive tour to Rio Celeste. It's a two hour drive from the center of La Fortuna to Rio Celeste. You don't have to pay entrance but can do a small donation if you want. The hike is 45 minutes to 1 hour but... More

Fabulous hike through the rainforest to see the bluest of blue rivers!! Believe the pictures, it really is that colour! The hike is modertate/hard and I wouldnt recommend it in the rain. We did it on a sunny day and it was still very slippery. If you take the National Park entrance just down the road from Rio Celeste Hideaway... More

This place is amazing. A DEFINITELY must-visit when in Costa Rica. The hike is uphill/downhill and there is mud and uneven surfaces BUT seeing the river and the waterfall is SO, SO worth it. Unfortunately, some people had had an allergic reaction to the minerals in the water that make the water that azul color, so we weren't allowed to... More

I just couldn't believe the pics and had to look more than once when got there. The water is just insanely blue, just amazing what Mother Nature can do. Liked the hike very much, it is very humid, actually wet and the hike is a bit more challenging than others around because of the mud but it is nothing too... More
