I've been on several horseback rides in various countries and they are usually similar. Most horses are followers, following the horse in front and going by memory vs. listening to the rider. A few horses like to be the leader and will actually let you ride with them instead of just on them. This ride was no different in that... More

I traveled with 12 students from Ramapo College and included a horseback riding excursion as part of their experience. Calbagata Don Tobias came very highly recommended. They were attentive by phone when asking questions, very professional and compassionate to new riders and offered a memorable experience on horseback. The restaurant was a pleasant addition to the experience and offers some... More

I booked a horseriding tour for myself and my daughter with Don Tobias/Lobos through Arenal Online and paid for it on the 22nd December 2014. Unfortunately, the company taxi did not turn up at our hotel - we waited around for over an hour trying to call the company, but they didn't pick up the phone. I have since tried... More

I was very nervous to go horseback riding for the first time but the staff was very nice and helped put me with a horse that seemed very calm, (William) I suggest asking for him. The tour was very fun and although it wasn't as beginner as I would have thought, it was very fun and I think almost anyone... More

I am NOT a seasoned horse rider, and this place made it easy and accessible. The horses are wonderful and forgiving. The leader (there were 7 of us, including a very young child) was kind and careful. His name is Harrison and he took good care of us gringos. We went up near the volcano. Weather prohibited is from seeing... More

This was one of the highlights of our 11-day visit to Costa Rica. Authentic, adventurous, beautiful are the words that come to mind. We felt immersed in another time and place. The horses were so well trained, gentle, and easy to control, even for our 7-year old with no prior riding experience. And yet the ride was very adventurous relative... More

We enjoyed our horseback ride with Don Tobias. We were with 3-4 other people. The ride was to be around the base of Arenal Volcano, which it was, but the volcano could not be viewed due to cloud cover. At one point, we stopped at the Benedictus restaurant house for coffee or hot sugar cane sweet tea and a snack... More

Four of us decided at the last minute to do a ride here. The rain had stopped and so we contacted Anywhere Costa Rica and they made it happen for a 130pm ride. We did have a bit of a laugh as they sent a cab to pick us up but it turns out the place was right around the... More

Our tour consisted of myself (50 year old mom) with my 12 and 13 year old boys. We had very healthy horses and a wonderful guide. The scenery was breath taking, even in the drizzling rain. We were able to actually trot our horses as opposed to a lazy trail ride. The snack was located in a beautiful farm house... More

Well-organised straightforward pony trek. One of us is a reasonably-experienced rider (English style); the other pretty much a novice. Safe environment, good equipment, pretty scenery (weather permitting). Oh, and if and when it does rain, there are ponchos on the back of the saddle. The first convertible horses I have ridden! You get a tea / coffee stop at the... More
