Our tour consisted of myself (50 year old mom) with my 12 and 13 year old boys. We had very healthy horses and a wonderful guide. The scenery was breath taking, even in the drizzling rain. We were able to actually trot our horses as opposed to a lazy trail ride. The snack was located in a beautiful farm house... More

Well-organised straightforward pony trek. One of us is a reasonably-experienced rider (English style); the other pretty much a novice. Safe environment, good equipment, pretty scenery (weather permitting). Oh, and if and when it does rain, there are ponchos on the back of the saddle. The first convertible horses I have ridden! You get a tea / coffee stop at the... More

Our family of 4 with two teenagers have never been on a horse before. Anywherecostarica.com recommended this excursion. The owner Don Alvado picked us up at our hotel and took us to his amazing home and farm, over 2000 acres. The horses were healthy, well groomed and mild mannered. Our cowboy Gersen was so experienced that I felt completely safe. He... More

I had ZERO riding experience and the guide was very patient and helpful. The terrain was very muddy because there was a lot of rain. Since no one in my small group had experience, the guide changes our route to make it less hilly and muddy. We were all grateful! It was a lovely ride. Definitely recommend for other folks.... More

I was hesitant to ride in Costa Rica as I am a trainer and horsewoman and thought that conditions might be less than quality. However, after some investigation we were steered towards Don Tobias. I found the horses to be in great condition, the tack was well fitted and appropriate, the horses well mannered and tolerant. These are rental horses... More

We had a great time climbing to a spectacular view of the volcano and the area. The guide was very informative. We loved it.

My husband and I decided on this tour because of the reviews. I will say, that for the money, the ride was long and we saw beautiful views of La Fortuna however, my husband was given a horse that was lazy. This was a very personal problem for my husband as he is an animal lover. The tour guide gave... More

I haven't trotted on a horse in years. So when we took off and my horse started to trot, I was admittedly a little nervous. And then it was fun. Really fun. And I couldn't wait to see more of this beautiful area on the back of Mariposa! What a great horse. We were picked up by a taxi from... More

There were 4 adults in our group. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The trail was a mix of easy and challenging. You felt like you had really gone horseback riding! Not just a little pony ride! The guide even helped with photos of wildlife.
