This place has a weird vibe to it: it's tiny and somewhat touristic, tough there are no fences to be seen. It appears as though the animals you see are genuinely there not in captivity. We took the tour and walked the short trail for a bit over an hour. We saw plenty of animals: caiman, sloths from afar, lizards,... More

Ecocentro Danaus provides an excellent opportunity to view Costa Rica wildlife in a natural setting. There are innumerable colourful birds, caimans, tiny poison dart frogs, and two species of sloth. The plant life is lush and unusual. The guide spoke excellent English and displayed a thorough knowledge of the local flora and fauna. There is a gift shop with very... More

Not far from La Fortuna, Ecocentro Danaus is a valuable resource for those who want to experience the biodiversity of a Costa Rican jungle in an accessible and easily digestible couple-hour tour. Our excellent guide, Osvaldo Paz, spotted with his telescope numerous hard-to-see creatures, including birds, reptiles, spiders, butterflies and sloths. We saw a croc-like caiman perched on a log... We took a night tour with a young college student guide. His English was a little broken, but abounded with passion & info not only about what we saw, but of his country too. He translated a wealth of info for us when we spoke to a local indigenous indian about the local balsa wood carvings & their symbolic meanings.

Eventhough it is a small place it is good to take pictures, see some wildlife and learn a little bit about the area. You may spend around 2 hours in the place and find many interesting animals. They also have a plce for birdwatching that is amazing.

My boyfriend and I went to Costa Rica looking for adventure and wildlife. We found this center on TripAdvisor and were so happy that we did! They had a tour guide ready for us once we got there and he took us out with one other couple on a private walk through the grounds to find a wide variety of... More

We did not plan on visiting Danaus as we booked a tour to see animals at the Asis centre but we had some time beforehand and stopped by here. In 1.5 hours we learned about sloth and saw mama sloth with her baby frolicking in the trees, explored butterflies (small but informative garden), kaimans, herons, medicinal plants and Maleku people.... We went here yesterday and it was incredible! You walk around the 3 acre reserve and see tons of animals! We did not get a guide but the people that worked there were so friendly and we had several people point out animals in the trees. We even had one of the employees walk around with us for a long... Went here on one of four night tours during a recent trip. Returned for a daytime visit. This place has a ton of cool stuff to see: loads of frog species, snakes, insects, sloths and birds. Don't go there thinking you can walk around by yourself and see things. Make a reservation with one of the onsite guides, or arrange... More
