A great place doing great work. The chance to "volunteer" made it even better. I put "volunteer" in quotations because it doesn't feel like work when you have animals keeping you company. The interaction and proximity to the animals was wonderful! The staff was SO wonderful. One of the staff members even ran back and grabbed my umbrella wen it... More

I brought 8 high school students and 5 adults to Proyecto Asís in April. Adriana and Alvaro were fantastic to work with and really made our experience great. We toured the project, did some volunteer work, and then participated in the homestay option. This was probably the most memorable part of the trip for the students and adults as well.... More

We had a great morning 'volunteering at Proyecto Asis. The kids thoroughly enjoyed being animal care staff and even my not very keen husband came out having fed baby parrots and delighted to have joined us. I was a bit concerned by the level of human contact that animals that may get returned to the wild were getting but I... More

An educational and fun experience that will leave you thinking as you pass through the gate and head home. The animals are wonderful and the Ticos who work there compassionate and caring individuals. Well worth the extra money to do the 3 & 1/2 hour tour. More

We visited this special place and just loved it. We were so happy to be able to give a helping hand and really enjoyed it here. We first had a tour of the area, and could see how well they care for the animals . The staff is very knowledgable and friendly, and very willing to give you a pair... More

My daughter and I recently completed a one week home stay. Rosie and Fabio were just wonderful, and Rosie's cooking is to die for. Her three children are just delightful. My daughter and I were extremely impressed with Projecto Asis. Alvaro educated us on the appalling black market of animals. His goal is to rehabilitate and release all of the... More

We took our boys (ages 10 and 15) for the tour and half day volunteering. The tour was very informative and fun, but the real joy was volunteering. My wife and I basically took photos but the boys prepared meals for the animals and then got to feed them after cleaning out cages (mostly with a hase and broom). Hysterical... More

We visited Proyecto Asis during our stay in Costa Rica. I am definitely an animal person so this was the one place I was slightly dubious of. I was a bit worried as to how I would react to the animals being caged and not in the type of enclosures we are used to in English zoos. I have to... More

My husband and I and our 2 children ages 4 and 6 spent a week at Proyecto Asis at the end of February 2012. This was one of the best experiences that we have ever had. First I want to talk about the family that we stayed with. For 1 week we lived with a local family, Rosi and Fabio... More
