In my opinion, after four visits over ten years, I am increasingly disappointed because the animals are not as promised, like the ocelot. and others. My favorite, the ocelot, has not been there for at least five years and other animals in addition have disappeared and not been replaced. I appreciate the natural surroundings, but the animals are difficult to... More

We've actually taken the family twice... We live part time on the beach in CR, and we needed to get away from the heat and the sand every once in a while... this place is a lot of fun... neat animals that you are really close to... an easy and fun zipline for kids (6 year old loved it)... We were staying two days in Alajuela (shouldn't) have. Poas is the obvious day trip from there, but we had another day and wanted something real easy that wouldn't take all day. Zoo Ave was just fine in the context. Kids loved it. Real easy to reach by bus from Alajuela. Good for an "initiation" to Costa Rica wild life.

Zoo Ave is a great way to see lots of animals you maybe weren't able to spot in the jungle. We went there on our last day in Costa Rica and arrived with all our luggage for the airport and they kept our stuff safe while we walked through. The grounds are beautiful and the plaques teach you a lot... More

We took in Zoo Ave towards the end of our stay in Costa Rica. We are so glad we did! We are huge animal lovers and with a daughter getting ready to enter Vet School this was a wonderful treat! It is an anima rescue, a huge plus, and the habitats are set up to closely resemble their home in... More

You can't say you visited Costa Rica unless you visit Zoo Ave, located in the province on Alajuela. Zoo Ave is located 2.3 km east of Cruce de Manolo's, route # 3, past the Juan Santa Maria International Airport. From the US dial. 011+ 506.2433.8989 to speak to a customer service representative. If you are in Costa Rica and want to see some of the wildlife that you might have missed this is a good place to start. Monkeys, sloths, tapirs, macaws among some of what you will see. Unfortunately, we went there in particular to see a Resplendent Quetzal, but it is no longer there.

This zoo is a refuge, they help birds, Very interesting many species it is a beautiful shady garden with peacocks walking down the aisles ! For a peaceful and quiet afternoon. It is like a foundation so the admission fees go to take care of the birds.

Set in an authentic Costa Rician setting, this place features natural ways to exhibit injured native animals. Reptiles, mammals and birds abound. A small zip line also is available at extra charge.
