If you are walking and riding buses like me, then you will be close to the central plaza when in Alajuela. The cathedral is beautiful and deserves a photo! Nice cathedral adjacent to a square. I loved the beautiful paintings on the walls and ceiling. There is a nice garden outside with quiet places to sit and contemplate.

We had a few hours in the late afternoon to explore Alajuela. A walk through the cathedral was a good start, as well as enjoying the activity in the park in front of it.

For a small town cathedral, it was very pretty. It was worth going through. And is is across the street from the Juan Santa Maria Museum and on the same side of the street at the City Central Park.

The Catherdral was neat to walk around, cool history and architeture. Very peaceful and beautiful. You have to love the mango trees in the courtyard outfront. It rained mangoes one day and that was brilliant.

An evening mass was taking place as we walked by on an evening stroll, but we were able to peek in through the large open doors lining both sides of the large stucco church to see unbelievable woodwork, paintings and sculptures. It was beautiful.

Take your time and wander ... A beautiful place to enjoy and take some time to relax. An oasis in the middle of mayhem

Bigger and grander than it seems from the out side. Interesting and worth knowing something of the history too.

The cathedral was open at night, and the ceiling is beautiful. It is a must see in an accessable downtown location right on the square.
