A beautiful cathedral in Alajuela. There are amazing paintings on the ceilings depicting events in the life of Jesus. It is worth stopping to look at the art and to find a place for peaceful rest or contemplation & prayer.

We walked around the cathedral on a very busy saturday morning. Lots of people, lots of stuff sold on the market in front of the cathedral. This is probably the nicest part of town.

I still think that the Cathedral in Cartago is better and even the one in Coronado but this one is not worth a trip unless you are in the neighborhood.

This beautiful cathedral sits just across from the town's Central Park and the museum saluting Costa Rica's national hero. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to go inside, but the facade is quite impressive.

The architectonic is not his strong point, but as any other Church, It is a very good place to meditate and talk to God. The best Place is the Chapel in the left side, small but beautiful, lovely place! Not a tourist place, but a spiritual place.

The outside is pretty, but inside is beautiful. People were worshiping as they do in many Costa Rican churches. The ceilings are adorned with five beautiful paintings. The dome which can be seen from most places in Alajuela, but the real beauty is viewing it from the inside. Incredible. The altar is extremely beautiful. If you are anywhere near this... More

One of the most beautiful cathedrals I've seen & the best in Costa Rica in our opinion. Set right in Alajuela Square so walking distance from the public bus stop.

We stopped into this Cathedral on a whim and were pleasantly surprised to see people worshiping on a Tuesday afternoon. The cathedral itself is beautiful with high ceilings adorned with paintings of sense. We didn't stay long but I had a nice visit and hung around the park just outside and drink coffee and people watched. If you're staying in... More

Bordering the plaza, this cathedral is a nice quiet, calm and cool spot to spend a few minutes. The cathedral is quite large inside with a huge wooden alter at the far end. There is a strange yellowish glow to the place which is really nice. Above the alter is a cupola that is richly decorated and contains a number... More
