Beautiful fall scenery as we traveled to a unique cemetery. Having coon hunted as a teenager, I know the type of person who get so attached to their coon dogs that they would bury them here. It is something that you can't see just anywhere!!

Lovely setting for certified coon dogs only cemetery. Has a covered space for resting or having a picnic. Also has outdoor restrooms. It's free to go and a peaceful place to visit. We took our two Pomeranians and they liked it too. They were very respectful.

We decided to go to the Coon Dog Cemetery while we were visiting the Rattle Snake saloon. There are very few signs and directions on how to get to the cemetery. We got turned around and drove out of the way but we didn't give up. You would be surprised how many people visit this cemetery each day. Each grave... More

Easier to find if you take Hwy 247 (12miles) and another 5miles on Coon Dog Cemetery Road; we came from other end, not so well marked and we almost gave up before eventually arriving. Many years ago-> we came upon the brochure, but never had opportunity to visit. Budget more time and include a visit to Rattlesnake Saloon, as it... More

This was a neat experience. The road going to it is like a roller coaster. We were on motorcycles so we enjoyed that. It's interesting to read the headstones and they have a guest book under the pavilion. There is also a natural spring near by. If you chose to walk to it, it's down a small hill but not... More

Its in the middle of nowhere. Beautiful country, but quite a drive off 72. Sweet to read the headstones. They even have a visitor log to sign. If I would go back I would takeWhite Pike off 72 (little west of cherokee) as it was quicker than going down 247. White Pike is winding road but beautiful and will put... More

It is what it says it is a cemetery for coon dogs. It is not very big and out in the middle of nowhere. It is interesting to loo over the headstones and a short walk will get you to a spring down the hill. There is a covered picnic area and an outhouse. I would not go to far... More

We give this a "Very Good" not because it is exciting, but rather it is so unusual and worthy of taking adding an extra mile or two on you trip. (If RVing, use your toad to get there.) You will truly be amazed at the number of Coon Dogs buried there, and more intrigued by the beautiful head stones some... More

Took the time to go here. The road that you turn on (Coon Dog Cemetery Road) is NOT marked at the turn and then it's another 5 miles out to the place but once you get there, you'll know it was worth it! Really neat checking out all the dates on the headstones and markers. If you love (coon) dogs,... More
