It is what it says it is a cemetery for coon dogs. It is not very big and out in the middle of nowhere. It is interesting to loo over the headstones and a short walk will get you to a spring down the hill. There is a covered picnic area and an outhouse. I would not go to far... More

We give this a "Very Good" not because it is exciting, but rather it is so unusual and worthy of taking adding an extra mile or two on you trip. (If RVing, use your toad to get there.) You will truly be amazed at the number of Coon Dogs buried there, and more intrigued by the beautiful head stones some... More

Took the time to go here. The road that you turn on (Coon Dog Cemetery Road) is NOT marked at the turn and then it's another 5 miles out to the place but once you get there, you'll know it was worth it! Really neat checking out all the dates on the headstones and markers. If you love (coon) dogs,... More

A cemetery with coon dogs off a twisty road. I'm glad I stopped by, it is very interesting. For many decades coon dogs have been laid to rest here. The grave markings are nice, and I was surprised how well kept this is.

While visiting red bay we ended up picnicking here. Tiffin motor homes told us about it so had to see it. Truly unusual. What more can we say.

I have two dogs of my own currently and knowing I will outlive them is heartbreaking. Visiting this cemetery was a reminder of that but it also shows how dogs bring out the best in us. It's way off the beaten path and totally worth the drive. I'm taking another trip there just to show my kids.

Nothin' like a good 'Coon Dog! I thought this was an interesting piece of Americana. It was a bit of an adventure just finding it, as the address is wrong on the brochure. If you're going, once you see the sign, you're another 2 miles from the cemetery.

If you're in this area, you have to go to the Coon Dog Cemetery - just because it's here - if for no other reason. Dogs laid to rest here get the same treatment as people, most have granite or marble headstones. There's a big, tall stone memorial that explains this unique place. We don't even have dogs, but found... More

We drove all the way down Coon Dog Cemetery in hopes of visiting but found the drive chained off. So disappointed.

It ended up being just a glorified pet cemetery. There is a covered picnic area, but that's the nicest thing there. I expected some more history to it, or moreso, some historical significance. There's also some statue that has been vandalized and is now fenced off, and since then hasn't been repaired or anything. Even in it's original state, it... More
