This 65-acre estate is most well known for its lush and beautiful gardens featuring azaleas, camellias, and other flowering plants, but the house, built in 1935, is also stunning. It's listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Bellingrath is a magnificent find in the country. A bit off the beaten path, you arrive at the estate and gardens not fully knowing what to expect. What you find first is a modern reception and admissions area complete with a number of Edward Marshall Boehm porcelains. You then walk into the gardens and are overwhelmed by the beauty of... More

My family and I spent the day here and were very impressed. First, they have a pet kennel in the shade for pets to stay while you enjoy the gardens. The tour of the house was interesting and full of southern charm. It's hard to find places like this on the AL and MS Gulfcoast where you can walk and... More

If you are in the Mobile Alabama area, stop and see this fabulous property. The story of Mr Bellingrath and his wife and their desire to share this "little corner of heaven" with as many people as possible is to our great benefit. The 60 acres are immaculately groomed and are a joy to behold. The extra few bucks to... More

We visited on a Saturday in late April, after the peak of the azaleas,. The garden was still outstanding. The house, built as a Country Lodge is lagniappe. My wife (a professional horticulturist), another couple and a younger lady went as a group. The ambience was relaxed, the gardens were not overrun with people, the gardeners were helpful with any... We didn't do the home show, just visited the gardens. Wow!!! It is so gorgeous and gives you that feeling of peace. All the staff we encountered were very knowledgeable and pleasant. We even had lunch in the cafeteria. Sandwiches, soups, salads, everything was very fresh and tasty. If you happen to be in the area, I highly recommend to... More

I took an Australian guest to visit the home and gardens. We went on a Wednesday afternoon and toured the house with about 8 folks. The guide was very knowledgeable and fun. I'm not sure if a larger group would have been as pleasant. Turns out this group were probably the only guests there at that time so we toured... More

I wonder what's the best way to put this, diplomatically? I first heard of Bellingrath Gardens over thirty years ago from an older friend, a master gardener herself. She so loved the place that it made a lasting impression on me. Throughout the years I've had the opportunity to visit several outstanding gardens. Today, thirty years after my introduction to... The garden was in between plantings, so I was a bit dissappointed there, but the grounds and home and the history, were well worth the trip

A beautiful place to walk and hear the audio tour of the gardens. They were in transition planting when we visited and got to talk to the gardeners. It is planted 4 times a year. A lot of work. Took the Home tour and it is spectacular. Bessie had a vision and it didn't disappoint. They came from humble backgrounds... More

Loved our 2 hour stroll through Bellingrath Gardens (we didn't take in the home). Beautiful, roses, orchids, exotic plants. Outstanding landscaping, formal gardens, informal areas, rock gardens, Asian garden. Plenty of beauty and helpful phone-based interpretive tour. Well worth the effort in getting here, 45 minutes out of Mobile. Outstanding value for the $12.50 garden-only ticket.
