Our Concierge reccomended it to my family and it is a really nice area for a drink or a meal, but when in China we'd rather go Chinese than Expat ! If that is the type of thing your looking for then you'll love it. more

This is an area to wine, dine and chill out. I went there in the late afternoon, strolled through, ate a late lunch and then realized... there was nothing else to do there. Would have appreciated it more if i was with a group of friends, but on your own is a bit boring. However, i do agree with the... more

If you haven't been to Xintiandi - you haven't really seen all Shanghai has to offer (the Bund, Suzhou Creek, French Concession, Yuyuan area are the others). This is the slick version of Shanghai & what's interesting is the mix of what you can find in one place. No crass copy watches and fake designer stuff, rather a well laid... more

This is a mini haven in the midst of Shanghai where the restaurants have non-local food and non-local visitors and no one offering to sell you a fake Prada or Rolex!! I ate at a Churrasco, Latina, for dinner and the food and service were great and the price reasonable. Now I'd eaten a lot of local food during my... more

Not sure what the big deal with Xintiandi is. I hung out here April 2008 and didn't think it was as such a hot area as Hong Kong's Lan Kwai Fong area. LKF is probably denser but that's probably what made it so alive. Xintiandi was just some bright neon and not much else. As for the shopping, well it's... more

A very nice spot to hang out at night. Many well-to-do locals and foreign expats come here. The restaurants are not more expensive than those in the US. The clothing shops are more costly than the west though due to China's tariff policy. more

As other people have mentioned it is pricier by Shanghai standards but normal by US standards, We ate at the Paulaner restaurant which is quite good even by Munich standards. The Weis Bier is the same and the food is simple but tasty. The shops are good but limited. It is a step back in terms of pace and noise... more

Xintiandi is mostly built for tourists, expats and the well-off locals. There are quite a few nice restaurants and bars, though a lot of them are Western (again, not built for locals). There is a small mall just across the road, though it feels a little lifeless and deserted. The last time I was there, there was an (again, Western)... more
