The temple is quite hard to find if you go by metro/train, i would recommend a taxi. On the way to the temple you can find street markets full of souvenirs. At the temple take a guide, it's cheep and can help you to explain the surroundings. At the Confucius tea temple you would be tempted to buy the tea... More

Spent 3 days in Jiading an old water town 40 minutes by train on the outer border of Shanghai. Now a busy satellite small city, there are areas of Jiading that are still untouched from hundreds of years ago.. In just a short time, one can become acquainted with the precepts of Confucianism and experience the serenity of this important temple in Shanghai...strongly recommended, because Confucianism still permeates Chinese life. Without being familiar with Confucianism, one cannot really make sense of much of what one is experiencing here.
