Line 9 to Dapuqiao station and enjoy your walk. We had our lunch in Chicago Pizza inside Tian Zi Fang. The pizza is so delicious. It cost 90rmb - ( 12 slices -whole pizza) you can have one slice for 18rmb. We had a hot latte. Once you are inside Tian Zi Fang you will be stuck because there were... More

This is an interesting little network of streets with some interesting shops. I found this area to be much better for shopping than many of the markets in Shanghai. While you do see some of the usual cheap Chinese souvenir junk, you stand a better chance here of finding something more original. At least it's a bit more interesting to... More

Went in Feb. Located at Old French Concession. It was raining and walking around the place has a romantic feel. Many shops and eating place. Did not get to finish as friend was unwell. Definitely going back.

Visited first time in Nov 2012, it reminded me of the hutongs in Beijing. The fragrance shop was an amazing place to be to breathe fresh airs and aroma. The restaurants of souvenir shops are here as well. It can be quite crowded here in the summer time.

Tianzifang is an example of rehabilitation for touristic purposes. Impossibly crowded when I visited. Don't stop to eat / drink / shop; it's a rip-off. Walking out of the gates you'll find far better food for a third of the price. Good if your time in Shanghai is very limited and you want to get a glimpse of old alleys.

If you are looking for some good pictures of old Shanghai. Get here early before the crowds! Full of cute little shops and usual tourist souveneers (find them cheaper somewhere else if you are looking for cheap scarves). There are some really nice craft shops in here. Good place to have a coffee or snack and wander for an hour... More

When I say time is everything, I mean the time you have to spare and the right time to go. Tianzifang can be good fun or a crowded nightmare. If you are going to visit, just try and ensure that it is not a holiday or weekend. The crush of people can be daunting. As for the money? It is... More
