I just wrapped up a tour (30 minutes ago) using Shanghai Sideways with Michael and Felix as our guides. On my own (or perhaps even with a more traditional guide), I'm certain I would not have seen all they were able to show us during my brief trip to Shanghai. They guys were friendly, helpful, easy-going and knowledgeable of the... More

After living one year in the city I bought my colleagues on a great drive around the city. The guide has great knowledge and knew places that were interesting for me and for newcomers in Shanghai. You get to see several parts of the city from a great angel and while feeling cool and relaxed in your comfy seat. Absolutely... More

I found this a week prior to arriving, and Flo was extremely helpful and worked around my schedule. Want to see the city and especially the charming back alleys and narrow lanes of the French Concession? Then, sign up. The meeting place is an easy taxi ride of about $5US from almost anywhere in the city and is a charming... More

I can only recommend Shanghai Sideways (http://www.shanghaisideways.com/) to all living in or passing through Shanghai. This is an absolute MUST DO. The service is impeccable and the experience, unforgettable. Definitely worth the money. Very feasible as a family, even with young kids: they will just love it.

Shanghai has some of the tallest buildings and most gorgeous skyline views in the world, but once you're done looking down on the city you may want to get your hands dirty and really see it from the inside. Shanghai Sideways is the perfect way to do that. My friend and I booked a two hour tour of the city,... More

I went twice on a tour in October 2010 for my sister's wedding. The concept of SH sideways is just awesome and unique. I lived in shanghai for 2 years between 2005 and 2007, and visiting the city with them was like visiting a new city. Freindly drivers, super cool motorbikes and good explanation lead to a great time. Beijing... More

Shanghai is a much more interesting and layered city that first impressions give you and by far the best way to reveal the layers and understand the city is to take a tour with Shanghai Sideways – definitely sign up for at least 4 hours to really get a proper feel for the place. You can always revisit places you... More

I could go on for ever about this tour, but put simply, it was the best part of our trip to Shanghai. A lot safer than you would perceive, and the guides are fun, flexible and knowledgeable. We had Jonathan who was great. Just tell them the areas you want to take in, and they take care of the rest.

I admit I was a bit nervous about being in a sidecar given the rule of the Shanghai road is 'there are no rules'... but it was fine. Jonathan loves his architecture and since it's a special interest of ours we really enjoyed his insights into the main architectural periods of Shanghai. My husband and I had already been a... More

I was only in Shanghai for a couple of days but didn't want a tour that was just going to take me to the usual tourist hot-spots. This tour is definitely different! All the areas we visited were interesting, especially the abattoir, wedding market and old town. I would definitely recommend this tour if you want to go off-the-beaten track... More
