What you would expect in an urban state park or city park. Winds through some inland ponds and small swampy areas. Not a lot of wildlife when we visited, but did see an alligator. I think I would classify this as more of an exercise trail than a backcountry hiking trail.

This is an extensive asphalt trail system that is well maintained. We have seen lots of wildlife on our trips in the morning there. Great place to bike and get exercise & get away from traffic. Sorry Alabama, for your ranking of 50th worst bike friendly states!

I've been riding or walking this trail since it's inception, and every year they add more trails. It's a wide, paved path (12 ft?) through the maritime forest in the middle of Orange Beach. The terrain goes from swamp to a gorgeous cliff overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, and there are at least 2 ponds with alligators living in them... More

This was a great trail to bike or walk. The trail winds in and out among the trees and is shaded about 50/50. The nature center is pretty interesting and it sets in the middle of the campground. There were many live animals to see at the nature center. The lady there had so much information to offer. She interacted... More

The Back Country Trail is known by the locals as the Cat-Man Trail. Legend has it that a creature, half-man, half-panther, stalked these woods and swamps. Today the path leads from near the water tower at Orange Beach to the State Park campground. It's a pleasant walk with a paved trail, and makes for a fun morning or evening time... More

Rent bikes at the State Park, take plenty of drinks, and enjoy a nice morning on the trails. We loved riding over to Orange Beach Indian & Sea Museum.

Paved trails through a variety of natural habitats provided a very enjoyable half-day adventure. We rented bikes from Beach Bike Rentals at the Rosemary Dunes trail head on Perdido Beach Blvd in Orange Beach. We had planned to bike for two hours but found you cannot rent for less than the one day rate. Still at $20 for the whole... More
