A Special Alabama Display was well worth the visit

as a part of a convention of 50 people, one of the choices was a visit to the Museum. The giude was well informed and the tour was nice.

I went with my 8 year old daughter. They have a children's interactive section which she enjoyed. Then we got a bag filled with props and a book with pictures of pieces of art found in the museum. We looked for the art pieces and then did different activities with the props in the bag to learn more about the... More

So sorry that three of the backpack featured pieces had been taken down temporarily in order to install works for our Museum's annual fundraiser. The good news is we raised more than $50,0000 to support programs like our ArtWorks gallery! I hope you may be coming our way again this summer when the works of art in these galleries will... More

I only got to see the visiting exhibit, "Reflections" which was well worth the visit alone. It is the private collection of Myrna Colley-Lee and has wonderful pieces of African-American art. I was also pleasantly surprised to meet Ms. Colley-Lee while I was there! I was greeted warmly by the staff and I look forward to going back to spend... More

We stopped here with local friends to see the art for about an hour as we arrived late in town. The museum is not huge so very easy to stroll through and could spend more time. They have a nice variety of personal collections with often changing displays. The children's section with hands on is great, along with available classes.... More

I've been going here since I was a kid. There's a lot of great pieces here including but not limited to paintings, sculptures, china, ect. One of my favorite parts is in the kid's center they have a screen you can move in front of that puts off rainbow projections of yourself. It's great!

Nice balance between permanent displays and visiting exhibits. Very nice cafe, and gift shop with variety of merchandise by local artists. No admission fee

The museum has a beautiful building and an interesting collection. It was a great visit. The special exhibition dresses were unusual.

After moving to the area, we were delighted to find a modern, clean art gallery in the Montgomery area. Maybe I'm jaded, but central Alabama was not a place renowned for its arts culture. So, this free museum was an added benefit to match the hospitality and friendliness of Montgomery. My wife joined a stained glass class after our first... More

I lived in Montgomery, AL for three years (2006 - 2009) and can say that when it comes to culture and the arts, your choices are somewhat limited. The MMFA is a great fine arts museum that only takes a few hours to tour. The museum itself is free (they accept donations) and the range in art varies from classic... More

Growing up near this Museum, I kind of took it for granted that someplace this nice included admission for free. As I've begun traveling across the nation, I've realized that museums this nice rarely don't charge admission. It's a beautiful venue filled with equally beautiful art and they've had some pretty impressive exhibitions and lectures over the years. The children's... More
