The tours are only on the Mondays in December so make sure to take off work to enjoy lots of time together. The gift shoppe - across... More

The Governor's Mansion is a beautiful home located in a residential area of Montgomery. As of this writing, tours are given on Tuesday's and Thursday's from 10-2, so unfortunately, we weren't able to do a tour since we were in Montgomery over the weekend.

The house is kept in such good shape and it truly belong to Alabamians. Mrs. Riley opened the House up often during her husband's governorship. She wrote a great cookbook.

The tour guide information doesn't explicitly say that you MUST call and be scheduled for a tour or you cannot tour. We showed up at 2:15pm and were told that we should have called days or weeks ahead of time. The last tour had already departed and we were unable to view.

The tickets are free, but they can be obtained at the Gift Shop across Finley Avenue. This is the fourth visit for my wife and I, and we were disappointed. The... More
