While is isnt as trashy as New Orleans there still are some shady people walking around. Overall its just a parade, unhealthy food, and people wanting to party. Not saying its bad, but its nothing id ever go back to.

A lot of people think of New Orleans when they think of Mardi Gras but they need to think of Mobile Alabama the birth place of Mardi Gras. Great floats, balls and just a over all fun time. We have it all. It's great for family's a nice clean safe environment. Most of the time the weather is great and the... More

While we didn't have a bad time, this is pretty much just another parade. It wasn't that long of a parade and the costumes were not that ornate. We would recommend Mobile as a destination but not necessarily because of Mardi Gras.

We really enjoyed seeing all of the very elaborate costumes and learning the history of the 'carnival' in MObile.

Had a great time partying at "the garage" a bar in downtown. Despite the fact the it was raining that did not stop a thing! The parade did not miss a beat! Everyone was so friendly and having a great time. There was so much stuff thrown there wasn't even enough people to catch it all lol I left with... More

Mobile's Mardi Gras is a great time to go out with friends. I always go with a big group. We always catch a ton of beads, cups, and moonpies. The floats are gorgeous and usually everyone there is nice and friendly. If you go, go early to get a good parking spot.

Mobile, Alabama is the Birthplace of Mardi Gras. New Orleans may get all the attention, but it started here!!! We celebrated carnival as children with our extended family (The more the merrier... like back in the days when 8 poor kids rode in the back seat and back window without seat belts.) We celebrate Mardi Gras with our children and... More
