If you are going to be anywhere near Mobile before May 5, you MUST see this exhibit. The Mardi Gras museum downtown is good but this exhibit (a few miles out from downtown) is simply over the top. Mobile Mardi Gras is different from NOLA Mardi Gras. This exhibit displays its unique traditions and the overall splendor. I think most... More

My husband and I went to Mobile for the weekend. We did not even consider going to this Museum until the Welcome Center suggested it due to the Mardi Gras Exhibit. There were lots of costumes to view, videos to watch, beaded artwork, accessories to looks at, and videos to watch and Mardi Gras. I enjoyed the Moon Pie cape... More

We hit this museum on a Thursday which turned out to be their free day. We had a cup of coffee (free) and shared a biscotti (also free). They asked for a donation for the coffee which I gladly gave as the desk lady was so nice. We were in time for the Mardi Gras display of outfits, tiaras, scepters,... More

The Mobile Museum of Art is 50 years old. To celebrate they have put together an outstanding exhibit in conjunction with the Mobile History Museum and the Mobile Mardi Gras Museum. The Art and Design of Mardi Gras explores the many aspects of creative work required to stage annual Mardi Gras celebrations in Mobile. Mobile has 85 Mardi Gras organizations... More

While killing some time before my flight, I ventured into this museum. The pieces on display provided a a variety of emotions. Seriously, the small collection of religious art was very humbling, and the pieces from Japan and China were inspiring. I just wish I were in town during the upcoming Mardi Gras weekend-long display. It sounds like it would... More

Hell I wouldn't know but my art buddies in New Orleans who have Piccassos and Dugas in their hallways say it is a wonderful museum. I liked it better when you could have luch out there. It is right by the Tennis center so if you are here for a summer tournament great place to beat the heat

Our visit was extremely pleasant; the museum is very well kept and the bathrooms were so clean it was as if no one had ever used them. The mix of art was very pleasing and made us want to go back through a few areas twice. The museum staff were extremely friendly and were fairly knowledgeable regarding some of the... More

Exhibits of permanent collection seemed fresh. Friendly, informative staff. And a great museum store!

The way security at this museum follows people, stares, and hounds is ridiculous! It is impossible to enjoy or even give much thought about a piece of art when you are the only one in the gallery and the guards physically walk behind you and stand while you look. Seriously?? Do you think that I am going to rip the... More

We visited on Memorial Day weekend. We saw that the admission was reduced on the website, but we missed the explanation about the second floor being closed for renovations. So, if you are visiting in summer 2014, just note that you aren't going to get to see everything. We enjoyed what we did see and were glad that we went.... More
