Beautiful church and a lot of history. there is nothing to dislike about this church. Wonderful Archbishop for Mass.
This is a beautiful place. If you are lucky and the sun is out go late in the afternoon. The light on the stained glass windows is special. Attneding a mass is special even for non-catholics in this visually incredible place.
This is really a gorgeous cathedral in the heart of the city. It is definitely worth 15-30 minutes of wandering around inside. Along with the Mobile Museum of Art. the Battleship Alabama, and Bellingrath Gardens in nearby Theodore, The Cathedral is one of the must sees in Mobile! Note the stainglass windows! I have photos to share.
Don't care if you are not even a believer, GO. The place is beautiful and you have to realize there are few churches this grandiose being made these days. Look up. Look around. Drink in the beauty. IF you can attend a mass, by all means do. The grounds in front are also pleasant for an afternoon stroll or an... More
The Cathedral was easy to find and easy to access. The stained glass windows are beautiful. Don't forget to look behind and up as you walk through, or you will miss the pipe organ. Bonus: Quite a few places to eat within walking distance.
Have attended many services in this beautiful setting for weddings and funerals. The architecture us amazing. Even if you are not catholic you will appreciate a tour of this beautiful church.
This church was elegant, yet simple. The stained glass windows told the stoy of Mary, mother of Jesus. There was no charge. An there was a set of spiral stairs that led downstairs to a crypt, kept in great condition.
The church itself is small for a cathedral but the stained glass windows more than make up for that. It is clearly a house of prayer, with wide open doors and people inside who obviously felt welcome to drop in and pray.
The Cathedral was the main point of our visit to Mobile. It has a beautiful small park in front of it and it borders Dauphine Street which is a fun walk with shops, restaurants and another fun little park. The Cathedral itself has some historic significance and I particularly enjoyed seeing the baldachin (like an umbrella) and tintinnabulum (bell) which... More
Beautiful fleurs-de-lis and shamrock emblems are on the vaulted ceiling. Beautiful altar area. Stained glass windows are gorgeous, also.
