Living history is explained by knowledgeable docents (guides) through entertaining stories about the property and the people connected to it. It was very interesting to tour the house and grounds and marvel at the magnificent oaks and other flora. Antiques galore and period costumes added charm to the tour.

This is a beautiful home to visit and to tour. You can go anywhere with the tour guide, not like in many other plantation or manor tours, all rooms are open. It is not very crowded during the week, we were a group of six and were lucky to have a very knowledgeable and local lady who knew all the...

I am a big fan of historic House Museums and visit them in other cities when I get a chance. Mobile has 4 very good ones: The Bragg-Mitchell Mansion, DAR-Richards house (downtown), Charlotte-Conde House (right by FT. Conde info center), and the Oakleigh Historic Complex (Oakleigh Garden DIstrict close to downtown).
